danielt Posted January 16, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted January 16, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) After one month of shooting with my M8 (2nd batch - Firmware 1.09), using Capture One + Jamie Roberts profiles, I want to say that I am completely satisfied with the results. Â THANKS JAMIE !! Â Next month I hope to receive from Solms my two IR filters that I have ordered, but for the moment I do not need them.

jim_royer Posted January 16, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted January 16, 2007 Thanks for your viewpoint and to know about your satisfaction. I'm still waiting for my M8 but have been reading the forum since the M8 was actually released to the public. Jim
manolo Posted January 16, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted January 16, 2007 I also have used the the M8 (1.9 second batch) for about two weeks without filters and don't see the need for them. I am starting to think that I won't need them. (no IR problem that I can see). Also the combination of digital and rangefinder is magical.
j. borger Posted January 16, 2007 Share #4 Â Posted January 16, 2007 Glad to read i am not the only guy who feels no real need for the filters using Jamies profiles ....
Jamie Roberts Posted January 17, 2007 Share #5 Â Posted January 17, 2007 Daniel (and everyone else)--you're very welcome, and thanks for the kind words on the profiles. Â I'm still slowly (very slowly) working on improving them. I've also finally got my hands on a filter or two now as well, so I can look into profiling with them, too. I think, though, that I'll wait for the next firmware for the filter profiles, when the filters are taken into account by the camera's firmware. Â I also have to send my M8 in to be fixed, so it's going to be hard for awhile to work right shots. Â Anyway, I agree, the M8 is a lovely camera, and I love using it. I almost don't want to send it in at all (almost!).
johnkuo Posted January 17, 2007 Share #6 Â Posted January 17, 2007 Just want to add my gratitude to the great work Jamie has done for this community. I have shot 1000 frames and I could only see IR issue in two or three instances. I registered for the filters but so far really no rush in waiting for them. mwilliamsphotography Posted January 17, 2007 Share #7 Â Posted January 17, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Leica should send Jamie a free M8 with a complete set of coded lenses : -) Â If he hadn't posted his revised profile so swiftly, I would have returned my M8 that week. I suspect a number of others would have also. Leica could have been sitting there with a huge stock of returned cameras. Â Hero status with red dot clusters to Jamie in my book. The rest of us get a Purple Heart ... or is it a Magenta Heart?
bnelson Posted January 17, 2007 Share #8 Â Posted January 17, 2007 I'll chime in here as well. Thanks Jamie. I have no filters yet and still using and loving my M8. Â Bill

QUOTE]Â Jamie, I am using your profiles with the IR-cut filters and like the colors a lot. I do have a question: I can't tell the difference between your v1 filter and your low-sat filter. Are they in fact the same? Â Regards,

wparsonsgisnet Posted January 17, 2007 Share #14  Posted January 17, 2007 You don`t have any good image to share? predicteble  I think I made my first post about a month after getting the camera. This hey-you---learn-this-new-software---now! stuff is the worst part of digital.  It took me a while just to start to understand C1, to get Jamie's profiles and the JFI profiles interfaced with C1, to figure out where the stupid images were going and then to point PSCS2 and Neat Image to that same, new directory, and to get the hang of the M8.  I've been using M's for 35 years and I don't feel completely comfortable with the M8, yet. New stuff is tough.

wilfredo Posted January 18, 2007 Share #19 Â Posted January 18, 2007 How do I get the Jamie Roberts profiles? After three weeks of shooting with the M8 I've mostly done B&W photos so I haven't had any need for the filters, but I've done some stuff in color where the magenta cast has been present on black fabrics and I've also gotten some redish skin tones in low light situations. From the looks of it, Jamie Roberts deserves an award. Looking forward to the arrival of the IR/UV filters.
