jplomley Posted December 28, 2010 Share #21 Posted December 28, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) No problems downloading the current issue on my iPad. I was hoping I could download a few of the previous issues, but upon check-out it appears as though only the hard copies are available. Hopefully the previous issues will be available for the iPad soon.
Advertisement Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Hi jplomley, Take a look here The actual LFI magazine on iPad (free beta). I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jplomley Posted December 28, 2010 Share #22 Posted December 28, 2010 Oh, and why is the M Analog Master Shots category missing? Did film recently die?
wattsy Posted December 29, 2010 Share #23 Posted December 29, 2010 Oh, and why is the M Analog Master Shots category missing? Did film recently die? I think LFI is subsidised by Leica and, like the printed rag, the purpose of the iPad app is probably to push the digital stuff.

I think LFI is an independent publication.
wattsy Posted December 29, 2010 Share #25 Posted December 29, 2010 I know it is meant to be independent but I dare say that in return for regular advertising and (more importantly) access, the magazine dances to Leica's tune. I've read it on and off for a number of years and apart from some interesting photo essays the contents essentially pimp the latest digital Leica stuff. The most entertaining aspect of the magazine are the articles - written in a kind of fawning deadpan style (I suspect exaggerated by the rather turgid translation from German into English) that would not seem out of place promoting a stay at a holiday camp in 1960s East Germany. wda Posted December 29, 2010 Share #26 Posted December 29, 2010 No problems downloading the current issue on my iPad..... Has anyone received the hard copy of the current issue of LFI (#1/2011)? It was due out earlier this month. I guess the snow has delayed distribution.

jpattison Posted December 30, 2010 Share #30 Posted December 30, 2010 I would prefer to receive a January magazine (any... they are all at it!) in Jan, not a month earlier. But it'll never happen! John
leicapages Posted January 1, 2011 Share #31 Posted January 1, 2011 Maybe they should also focus on the ever-growing Android market in order to reach an even wider audience ... Anyway, no point in reading this on a phone/tablet if the battery died ...
jplomley Posted January 1, 2011 Share #32 Posted January 1, 2011 Picked up my copy at the local dealer yesterday. That's close enough to January for me! Also, received an email from LFI stating that they hope to have previous issues available for the iPad in Q1 2011.
