nippa Posted October 21, 2010 Share #1 Posted October 21, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Is the Dlux5 handgrip different from that of the DLux4? I've just tried my old DL4 handgrip on the LX5 and making allowances for the inbuilt bulge of the LX5's body , I can't see why it shouldn't fit. If I can use the DL4 handgrip , my Pansonic EVF and my old DL4 cases together with the free upgrade to Lightroom 3 , it makes the acquisition of a DL5 more agreeable as a Christmas present. Advertisement Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 Hi nippa, Take a look here DLux5 Handgrip . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Shootist Posted October 21, 2010 Share #2 Posted October 21, 2010 If you have the panasonic EVF for the GF1 camera is should work. That is what Panasonic is selling as the EVF for the LX5. Looking at images of a LX3 and comparing them to my LX5 I don't see any real difference in the body. So this may be true with the DL4 to DL5. Some people have stated that the DL5 handgrip is different then the DL4 grip. But it may be just cosmetic differences. Like the grip base for the M9 is different from the M8. They are exactly the same with a different wrap on them. I use my M8 grip base on a M9 last Saturday, fit like a glove.
chuckw Posted October 21, 2010 Share #3 Posted October 21, 2010 The DL4 handgrip will attach to the DL5. Note that I said "attach" and not "fit"! While it will attach, light can be seen coming through a gap between the camera and grip. It appears that the bottom part of the grip itself hits against the camera and prevents a good fit. cfc247 Posted October 22, 2010 Share #4 Posted October 22, 2010 I filed down a bit of the DL4's grip and it's working great with the DL5. Will be trying out the Panny EVF in a few days as well.
leicanut2 Posted October 23, 2010 Share #5 Posted October 23, 2010 I filed down a bit of the DL4's grip and it's working great with the DL5. Will be trying out the Panny EVF in a few days as well. Panny EVF works on it but I do not know if the leicas is better than panny one. Cheers Jan
algrove Posted December 31, 2010 Share #6 Posted December 31, 2010 Panny EVF works on it but I do not know if the leicas is better than panny one. Cheers Jan For the extra $250, the Leica one had better be better.
Guest user62134 Posted December 31, 2010 Share #7 Posted December 31, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Bought my grip at B&H for $125.00 and could not do without it. This week B&H sent a email for me to review the grip stating "you too can win $1000 for your comments. I have filed those out for years. Not one thin dime. But great grip. Buy the grip and don't file down the old one. You will not regret it. Happy New Year ! David
