I thought that the 35mm frame-line was supposed to be uninterrupted along the bottom? On the camera I received, the 35mm frame-line is split into two on the bottom (just like my 0.72 MP I believe, but don't have that camera here now). nhabedi Posted October 21, 2010 Share #3 Posted October 21, 2010 I don't have a 0.58 viewfinder (wish I had one), but from looking at the M7 manual (pages 104/105) it seems clear to me that the bottom frameline for 35mm is not meant to be uninterrupted. wizard Posted October 21, 2010 Share #5 Posted October 21, 2010 The bottom framelines have to provide room for the M7's LED unit that indicates shutter time as chosen by the camera or, in manual mode, the arrows for manually adjusting exposure. Thus, there is no way for these bottom framelines to be uninterrupted, except for the 50 framelines in the 0.58 finder I believe, as they are located above the LED unit. I looked through a 0.58 viewfinder once (and liked it more than the 0.72 on my MP), but perhaps it was an M6, with fewer LEDs inside, resulting in more space for the 35mm frame-line. Regardless, I'm a bit disappointed that Leica couldn't have moved the LEDs just a little bit so that at least the 35mm frame-line was complete. How about the 0.58 viewfinder inside the M6 and MP? wizard Posted October 21, 2010 Share #7 Posted October 21, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) If I remember correctly, the LED unit in the M7 actually occupies less space than the one in the M6 (and MP presumably). While I do not own any M camera having a 0.58 finder, I am pretty sure there never was any regular 0.58 M6, MP and M7 having uninterrupted 35mm framelines. I am not sure, however, about the special edition MP sans lightmeter though, that one could well have uninterrupted 35mm framelines (but lacks the lightmeter). It was sold a few years ago, in Japan only I believe, but some found their way back. It was black paint and came with a 50 years Summicron 50mm lens in black paint. holmes Posted October 23, 2010 Share #13 Posted October 23, 2010 Sitting here and pulled out both my M7 0.58 and my M6TTL 0.58. In the 28mm the bottom lines are broken at allow for the LEDs. Actually on the TTL the LEDs appear to be set a little above the line. Might be my viewing and/of eyesight. In what, close to 10 years have never found that a problem with either model.
