jaapv Posted January 14, 2007 Share #1 Posted January 14, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) The sensor crop of the M8 turnes the Summarit 1.5-50 from 1954 into an amazing performer. Two bokeh test shots wide open...(Erwin Puts is rather negative about the qualities of the lens at full aperture....)
Advertisement Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 Hi jaapv, Take a look here Amazing Summarit. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
k_g_wolf ✝ Posted January 14, 2007 Share #2 Posted January 14, 2007 Indeed, the SUMMARIT is a much underrated lens. Nice bokeh examples here, well done. There is a lot of potential in the older lenses, thx for showing. Best
Vivek Iyer Posted January 14, 2007 Share #3 Posted January 14, 2007 Two bokeh test shots wide open...(Erwin Puts is rather negative about the qualities of the lens at full aperture....) Mr. Puts is quite right, IMO. Though bokeh is quite a subjective aspect, these examples show "cross eyed" variety.
tashley Posted January 14, 2007 Share #4 Posted January 14, 2007 Mr. Puts is quite right, IMO. Though bokeh is quite a subjective aspect, these examples show "cross eyed" variety. I agree. That bokeh is impressive in quantity but not quality - leaves me feeling quite dizzy! Tim
jaapv Posted January 14, 2007 Author Share #5 Posted January 14, 2007 A matter of taste, actually I like the vintage look, but I admit that it takes the meaning of "bokeh" ie. "confusion" a bit far... However, I'm quite impressed with the way it differentiates the sharp zones from the unsharp, as demonstrated by the leaves of the hedge. It must be quite good for for instance portraits against backgrounds that are less busy.
ed_oneal Posted January 15, 2007 Share #6 Posted January 15, 2007 I shot my niece's wedding partially with a Summarit. I was too rushed to change to a longer lens for some of the portrait shots, but I was quite pleased with the results.
