skimmel Posted January 13, 2007 Share #1  Posted January 13, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) For those with the M8:  What SD cards (make, size, and model) has caused problems in your M8 and what cards have you used that have been trouble-free?  I realize there's a compatibility list here:  http://www.leica-camera.us/assets/file/download.php?filename=file_1302.pdf  but the proof is in the pudding. jaapv Posted January 13, 2007 Share #6 Â Posted January 13, 2007 Sandisk only, 1 and 2 Gb (I don't see any advantage in using larger cards, only potential problems if ever a card should die) UltraII and Extreme, no problems whatsoever.

DaveSee Posted January 13, 2007 Share #8  Posted January 13, 2007 No problems with 2GB Sandisk Ultra II. Bob. Yes, this card and the 2GB Extreme III. The latter is a bit faster, both in the M8(I write DNG files only) and through an IO Gear USB 2.0 reader.  rgds, Dave
peterv Posted January 13, 2007 Share #9 Â Posted January 13, 2007 UltraII and Extreme, no problems whatsoever. Â Jaap, Â do you think the difference in speed between the two cards is noticable on the M8?

marco_rol Posted January 14, 2007 Share #13 Â Posted January 14, 2007 I use the Sandisk Ultra II 1GB (3 of them). I use the version with the built in USB, so no reader needed .
MP3 Posted January 14, 2007 Share #14  Posted January 14, 2007 Ridata Pro 150x 4GB SD cards work for me....380+ shots per card. LJ  Same here, the Ridata 4GB (non-SDHC) work fine for my M8, though I need to add that,  some devices (like the Epson P5000 media storage player) seems cannot work with this card. Don't know is this also the case with Transcend 4GB. Having said that, the price for this 4GB size and x150 speed is great for me.  Best Matthew

leicaM8freak Posted January 14, 2007 Share #16 Â Posted January 14, 2007 I totaly agree with Jaap, I use 1 Gb Sandisk Extreme III, never a problem. I have 8 of those, enough for me ( in RAW only mode a total of about 640 takes) These are cheaper then the bigger sized ones, and whenever there might occur a problem with your card, you are not loosing that much. chris_tribble Posted January 14, 2007 Share #17 Â Posted January 14, 2007 Sandisk 2 GB Extreme III - these work fine. I had to get a Kingston 2GB as an emergency when I first got the camera (forgotten to take my Sandisks when I want to London to collect and wanted to start using straight away...) The Kingston is painfully slow. The Sandisks are great. Â Chris.

scott kirkpatrick Posted January 14, 2007 Share #19 Â Posted January 14, 2007 SanDisk Extreme II 2GB and Trasncend 150 2GB with no problems so far. Â Actually I think the lowest price per GB is at 2GB now. Because of the architecture change at 4GB it may stay there a while, and anyway I want to change cards a bit sooner than batteries. skimmel Posted January 14, 2007 Author Share #20 Â Posted January 14, 2007 Thanks for all replies so far. Keep 'em coming! Â I notice that some cards (e.g., Sandisk Extreme II and Extreme III 2GB) are not on Leica's official list but seem to be working (at least for the few responding to the poll so far). Â Others experience (with Sandisk or others, eg Lexar)?
