cnguyen Posted January 13, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted January 13, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I picked a 50mm f2 Summitar last week and haven't had a chance to put it on my M8 till now due to the weather lately. The lens was made in 1949 for the Leica screw mount series . What a beautiful lens sharpness is every bit as good as my current 50mm Cron. All I can say is Wow ! robsteve Posted January 13, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted January 13, 2007 I think your Summitar underexposes a bit.
pascal_meheut Posted January 13, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted January 13, 2007 I think your Summitar underexposes a bit. And lacks contrast: picture is all gray

peterv Posted January 13, 2007 Share #6 Â Posted January 13, 2007 Charles, beautiful colours! Nice bokeh too. Â May I ask: - Where did you find the lens? - How much did it cost? Â Cheers, Â Peter
carstenw Posted January 13, 2007 Share #7 Â Posted January 13, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Your Summitar looks like a door handle. Any pictures of something in front of blurred leaves and branches?
Vivek Iyer Posted January 13, 2007 Share #8 Â Posted January 13, 2007 Lots of banding! In every direction!
cnguyen Posted January 13, 2007 Author Share #9 Â Posted January 13, 2007 Peter - you can find one on the bay for less $200 and you'll need screw to bayonet adapter for another $25 and you're in business. Summitar was made around the Leica IIF, IIIF period and was one of the better lens than the Summarit f1.5 . I'm not sure about the Elmar though. I'm curious about the old Elmar f2.8/f3.5 . I heard it's legendary. Â Carsten - I'm in a middle of a winter here in Colorado and we got 3 bad blizzards here back to back . So definitely no leaves arounf here to be seen . I know what you mean "bokeh" highlights from the tree leaves...
peterv Posted January 13, 2007 Share #10 Â Posted January 13, 2007 Thanks Charles, Â I guess I'll go and have a look at e-bay... Â Three blizzars should be more than enough... I hope you can go outside soon and do some shooting in winter wonderland... Â Cheers, Â Peter
