rondeb Posted January 13, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted January 13, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Can anyone give an assessment about which of these they prefer for the M8? How about the Leica full case vs. the half case? Â Thanks! Â Ron (having fun with my new 8!)
Advertisement Posted January 13, 2007 Posted January 13, 2007 Hi rondeb, Take a look here Luigi case vs. Leica case. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
bap Posted January 13, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted January 13, 2007 I have a Luigi half case with the built in grip and I love it the only negative is you have to take it off to download your pictures but I guess that would happen with any case. I did send Luigi an email to see if he could cut a hole where the USB connection is but he said it would weaken the case. Beautiful workmanship on the case and a very nice guy to deal with. danielt Posted January 13, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted January 13, 2007 I have a Luigi half case without the built in grip and IMHO the ergonomics of this half case are perfect. As Bruce Paine said, the only negative is you have to take it off to download your pictures
Guest WPalank Posted January 13, 2007 Share #4 Â Posted January 13, 2007 you have to take it off to download your pictures Do you have to take off the Luigi case to access the SD card? As I prefer an external reader. Thanks in advance.
bap Posted January 13, 2007 Share #5 Â Posted January 13, 2007 yes you do but I think any case would have that problem
jfaier Posted January 13, 2007 Share #6 Â Posted January 13, 2007 I have a Luigi Half/Full combo. The Half case has the removable back door, and the full case flips around. It's great for taking the camera out touring when you don't need lenses and when you maybe take an extra bat and SD card in your pocket. The workmanship is beautiful and has a nostalgic feeling. Luigi was great to deal with. A real pleasure. I can't recommend him more.
jamriman Posted January 13, 2007 Share #7 Â Posted January 13, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) No comparison. The extra few bucks for all Luigi's cases are well worth it.
rondeb Posted January 14, 2007 Author Share #8 Â Posted January 14, 2007 No comparison. The extra few bucks for all Luigi's cases are well worth it. Â I hear you, but have any of you actually seen the Leica protective half case in person? I saw one a few weeks back and thought it was really nice to the touch. I have not, however seen the LC case in the flesh. Thanks again. Ron

Giulio Zanni Posted January 15, 2007 Share #10 Â Posted January 15, 2007 I have a Luigi full case + strap in forest green for the M8. I love it! Â Giulio
egibaud Posted January 16, 2007 Share #11 Â Posted January 16, 2007 I just received my black half case hanging back and grip with SS screw mount from Luigi. Beautiful work, and great leather smell :-) Â I just need my M8 to arrive now. Â I picked the grip one because on my FZ30 there is a grip shaped body so I am used to this shape. The hanging back, hangs nicely, no need to keep it open, so this means that when I need to see the screen it does not bother, and when I need the screen to be protected, it will be so. Â Thanks Luigi for your great work.

Enoteca Posted January 17, 2007 Share #15 Â Posted January 17, 2007 Do you have to take off the Luigi case to access the SD card? As I prefer an external reader. Thanks in advance. Â Hello ! Never saw better and nicer equipment, than Luigi's. This and a fogg-bag are - together with the M8 - a great pleasure to use. Okay, you'll have to remove for battery-changing or Card-reading. But that will take you 3 seconds, you open two buttons, pull down the halfcase and that's it. For me very important is the protection of display and rangefinder. As I am a fat guy - and my skin is too - the gear will keep cleaner. Good work, Luigi has done, and very well shape to use all functions. woodda Posted January 17, 2007 Share #16 Â Posted January 17, 2007 Tried Cases. Have 3. Do not both. It will restrict your style. They look nice but only increase the weight and bulk.
