CSG123 Posted October 13, 2010 Share #1 Posted October 13, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I bought this from Samy's Camera in Santa Barbara, CA via ebay last week. It's in clean condition and works well. Been serviced at least once in its 43 year life. It's one of the first 3000 of the M4 run and is my first Leica M . I've got two lenses coming from Sherry Krauter that she's serviced and I bought from her - a DR Summicron and a 5cm Summitar. Can't wait to match them up! It's my 60th birthday present to myself. While I have extensive rangefinder experience I never quite understood the fuss until this arrived this morning. Oh, I paid $760 if anyone is curious. jpattison Posted October 15, 2010 Share #5 Posted October 15, 2010 Hi, and Welcome to the Forum! What made you buy two 50mm lenses straight away? John
CSG123 Posted October 15, 2010 Author Share #6 Posted October 15, 2010 The main reason I bought two 50mm lenses is because they were both quite inexpensive compared to what completed listings on the auction site show or asking prices here and there. And, they were both CLA'd by Sherry so they should both be good examples of their type. I was going to buy just one of them but asked if she'd do better if I bought both. She did - $650 for the pair. She's a big fan of the Summitar and the one I bought from her is a pre-war version complete with metal caps and a yellow filter. The Summicron is the lens I figured I'd get although not in the DR version. This one is from '57 or so. I do want to add a 35mm of some sort at some but they're a lot more expensive. After trying out both the 50's I'll see if I want to keep both or maybe sell one to help fund a 35.

CSG123 Posted October 15, 2010 Author Share #8 Posted October 15, 2010 I was stunned there wasn't a snipe bid at the last second. Who lets an M4 sell for $759?? Well, it worked out for me.
