I would like to know how come some lenses are summilux, summicron and elmarit? what are the differences? I am sorry for asking this stupid questions but I thank you for any kind enlightenments.. Xmas Posted October 13, 2010 Share #4 Posted October 13, 2010 Hi If you want to dig deeper (simplistically) they are trade names for two basic designs The double Gauss or the Cooke triplet Double-Gauss lens - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Cooke triplet - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia e.g. the ZM Planar and Summicron are basically the same design, the designers use similar ray tracing software on a PC, the clever bit is makng the lens cheap to make...
