Posto 6 Posted October 7, 2010 Share #1 Posted October 7, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) In view of the fact that the Sony A900 cameras have Minolta antecedents, can anyone envisage a way that they could be adapted, possibly by cannibalizing an R-type, to provide full functionality for the R-lens range? This would provide a far better solution than using adaptors such as Leitax, and would resolve the R-lens dilemma. It is also the most viable solution for those like me who still use film extensively (still have 3 SL2Mots, an R7 and an SL2). I for one would enthusiastically buy such a camera if it could be reasonably produced/adapted.

peterv Posted October 7, 2010 Share #2 Posted October 7, 2010 You could ask the same question at dyxum.com Some very knowlegdeable Sony/Minolta/Leica R lens users there.

I used my A850 with some R lenses for my recent trip to Namibia. Here are some photos with this this set-up, Zenfolio | N.S. Ng | Namibia With this move, I have accessed to Zeiss AF lenses as well! earleygallery Posted October 7, 2010 Share #5 Posted October 7, 2010 No - you would still need to stop down to meter/shoot, there's no mechanical linkage. If you don't want to use Leitax mounts on your R lenses the only solution is a Canon body, fitted with an R adaptor (you can leave it on the body so you just change lenses as usual). cbretteville Posted October 8, 2010 Share #6 Posted October 8, 2010 Noe that not all R-Lenses fit. Some have rear elements that block the mirror, at least on a FF Canon body, not sure on the cropped ones. Carl
ns_ng Posted October 9, 2010 Share #7 Posted October 9, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Very nice pictures from Africa, thanks for sharing. BG lightdreamer Thanks for viewing. I used R and CZ AF lenses, M8 and a Sony 70-400G during this trip. Seriously, the A850 performed flawlessly. I moved from using the DMR for 4 years and decided to go ff. As there is no Leica solution, I just moved on. N.S. Ng
