corradoerina Posted October 7, 2010 Share #1 Posted October 7, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Dear friends, The new 18723 leather bag for DLUX5 is not half as beautiful as the "old" 18689 brown leather bag for the DLUX4. Do you know if the DLUX5 fits in the DLUX4 leather bag (18689)? Best, Corrado y Rina
Advertisement Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 Hi corradoerina, Take a look here DLUX5 in DLUX4 leather bag? . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
MPJMP Posted October 7, 2010 Share #2 Posted October 7, 2010 The dimensions are different. I think the 5 is several mm taller. It might fit, but would probably be a bit of a squeeze. I have the D-LUX 4 and the brown leather case (18689). While it looks great (I get compliments on it from random non-photographers), I actually prefer the look of the new one, but probably because I like darker brown leather anyway. The top flap seems more streamlined and less bulky, like it would make for a smoother "draw."
nippa Posted October 7, 2010 Share #3 Posted October 7, 2010 My LX5 fits my DL4 case perfectly. I had a spare black one so at last it has a use:)
wda Posted October 8, 2010 Share #4 Posted October 8, 2010 Do both have a belt loop? Not clear from the photo I have seen.
nippa Posted October 8, 2010 Share #5 Posted October 8, 2010 My DL4 bag has a belt loop and that's how I use it. It's worth mentioning that when using that case the camera has to have a wrist strap ; it can't be used with the neck strap. Although the new camera is slightly taller it fits the DL4 case just fine and no tighter than the X1 in its similar transport case ; actually better than the X1 at least the lens cap doesn't come off:)
corradoerina Posted October 9, 2010 Author Share #6 Posted October 9, 2010 Are we all talking about the same bag here, that is the leather bag 18689 (brown) or 18690 (black)? Best, Corrado y Rina

Do you know if the DLUX5 fits in the DLUX4 leather bag (18689)? Best, Corrado y Rina I played with a sample D-Lux 5 on Saturday, thanks very much to Ivor of Red Dot Cameras, during a London LCUF meet and I had my D-Lux 4 and leather case with me so I can confirm that the D-Lux 5 definitely fits into the D-Lux 4's leather case. I use a Ricoh LC-1 'barn doors hood but I couldn't make it fit onto the D-Lux 5. Pete.
Claw Posted October 11, 2010 Share #8 Posted October 11, 2010 DL-4 leather bag is great design... cos the camera(DL-4) is not so small to take ei in pockets end not so big to hang on neck. so tha had to design a bag perfect to carry n use. DL-5 bag looks good to me, but I didn`t use it. but some how the black case for M9 titenium catches my eyes... as a designer`s point of view thats great! BB W Posted October 12, 2010 Share #9 Posted October 12, 2010 Great to know this - thank you Nippa and farnz! I just bought the LX5 and have been having fun with it. It's a very well designed compact camera. Though not small enough to fit in most of my pants pockets, it's still a good small size.
corradoerina Posted October 13, 2010 Author Share #10 Posted October 13, 2010 I have just spoken with the people at Harrison Cameras, where my beloved DLUX4 came from. They have received the first shipment of DLUX5 and they say it does not fit into the DLUX4 leather bag. PS: The good news is that all the cameras they received but 3 were sold in the first day. It seems to go like an hot cake!
farnz Posted October 13, 2010 Share #11 Posted October 13, 2010 ... They have received the first shipment of DLUX5 and they say it does not fit into the DLUX4 leather bag. ... All I can say is that Red Dot Cameras's D-Lux 5 fitted into my brown, leather Leica D-Lux 4 case. It was a snug fit but I could pull it in and out without a problem and the front flap folded over the camera and the magnetic catch snapped shut. If I was cynical (which of course I'm not:rolleyes:) I might wonder whether your supplier is interested in selling you a nice, shiny, new leather case ... Pete. Certainly isn't worth spending extra money on a new one
BB W Posted October 14, 2010 Share #13 Posted October 14, 2010 Same here - case arrived yesterday. LX5 in D-Lux4 case. Very nice case which includes the wrist strap. I must say Leica does know how to make things look good, as well as work well.

Prices are not so high for custom hand made stuff imho.http://www.leicatime.com/a000-STRAPS-page.htm That's Luigi's site which offers excellent hand-made quality leather goods and is well known on the forum and you can buy without worry. He's a small outfit so it sometimes takes a little while for the goods to arrive but he's entirely honourable and responds to emails when he's able to. Pete.
