what can this be?

It doesn't look like fungus to me.

Have you tried cleaning the lens surfaces (front and rear) with some safe cleaning fluid or one of those moist lens wipes?

If it really is inside the lens, the first image looks like dust spots, but the second image does appear fluid like - maybe oil from the aperture blades but it would be an excessive case.

Try the cleaning first, if not send it off for a CLA.

Weird, never seen this in a lens.

Appears to me like a pattern of condensation drops or an overspill

of lubricants.

indeed condensation. So try to wipe it! Hoping the coating is not damaged.

Can you confirm that the deposits are on the outer surface(s) of the lens? If so, I also think that it might be the residue of dried-off condensation droplets. Under what conditions was the lens stored though? I agree with James, try cleaning the external surfaces; the Carl Zeiss lens cleaning kit is very good.

hi,

it is inside the lens and it is no fungus, but sth liquid. leica said maybe oil from the iris diaphragm. it was stored all the time in the original case, inside living room area with a lot of others lenses. it cant be water, should have evaporated long ago. i will send it in soon but i hope they will not make me pay a lot for i think even when garantee is over this should never happen. the lens was at solms with the M8 in 2007 for 6bit coding. what seems strange that is happens after years.. well, i will see, thanx for the comments!

Not strange - it takes years for oil to evaporate and redeposit on the glass.

Personally, if I have a lens that sits unused for 3 years (or even 3 months) I start wondering why I have money tied up in it and sell it for something with more use potential. ;)
