In The Beta Photoshop CS3 you can't use Genuine Fractals yet. onOne the maker of Genuine Fractals is working on a verson to use with PS CS3. I downloaded and found it interesting but I use Genuine Fractals, so I will wait until you can use fractals. I just wanted to mention it in case any of you use fractals.

I tried but it doesn't work.

In CS3 I can't even see their name in the File -> Automate menu.

If they do work, won't they be in the Filters menu?

(I have tried to load some 3rd party filters and I can't get them to load either.)

PhotoKit and PhotoKit Sharpener work as automate plug-in.

You need to install them into (Mac version):

"Applications/Adobe Photoshop/Plug-ins/Adobe Photoshop Only/Automate"

In CS3 there's no Adobe Photoshop Only folder, the Automate folder is right into the Plug-ins folder.

I tried to install there but they didn't show up in the Automate menu in CS3.

I also tried (no logic here, I know) to add an 'Adobe Photoshop Only' folder then 'Automate' folder, to replicate the path in CS2, but obviously they didn't show up either.

And giving at PixelGenius they don't mention that these plug-ins are compatible with CS3, I guess there are no easy solution... :)

Waiting for their update.

Andy, you use a Mac and since CS3 runs as an native Intel application you'll need to wait until Intel versions of the plugins are available. In the interim you can run CS3 using Rosetta emulation and have access to the plugins. The plugins should be ok, but obviously you'll loose the benifits of running CS3 natiely.

The Photokit people are apparently working in Intel versions of their products, there's supposed to be a beta before too long.

Well I'm still running a miserly AMD XP 3200+ and CS3 works a treat and the new ACR is awesome - seems to produce better fine detail with less noise. I cannot however get the new Bridge to work so am using the older version with CS3. Working very well.

I am looking at the new Mac Pro Quad but will probably hold fire until CS3 is released for the Intel platform.

Ugh, my face is red. Not unusual.

After reading your glowing comments I re-loaded CS3 and surprise - it seems to work much better now.

And just about all of my old plug ins are there. Most in the File > Automate location.

Including Photo Kit Sharpener and Genuine Fractals. Some others are in filters. Loaded automaticalle from CS2.

Thanks for putting me right.:) :) :)

Ian , I believe CS3 is currently running natively on the Intel platform.

I have beeen using CS3 beta for a few weeks and it works well on my XP operating system. The Bridge set up is a lot quicker but I still prefer C1 LE for RAW (DNG) conversion of my DMR images.

I had no problems downloading the beta program from Adobe website BUT you must have a licensed copy of CS2 as you need to enter the CS2 serial code in order to get the new serial number of CS3 before it can be used.

My third party filters all work OK but I had to put some of them in manually, otherwise no problems at all. The downloaded beta program will work indefinitely, but you will not be able to get support or updates after May 2007.

Hope this helps a few folk
