Olsen Posted October 4, 2010 Share #1 Posted October 4, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have lost the lens cover, - or rather the cover that goes on the sun shade, of my WATE. It was inevitable. It fell off all the time. Do anyone know what the part number for this item is? I

Olsen Posted October 4, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted October 4, 2010 Nicoleica, Thank you, Nicole! Almost 27 dollars! I could buy almost seven shares in CitiGroup for that.
marknorton Posted October 5, 2010 Share #4 Posted October 5, 2010 Almost 27 dollars! I could buy almost seven shares in CitiGroup for that. Yes, but with Leica price inflation being what it is, the investment potential is so much greater. That said, it's Leica business as usual. Out of Stock. I waited for nearly a year for a replacement lens hood for the WATE, $175.
Guest Posted October 5, 2010 Share #5 Posted October 5, 2010 Does not help with a WATE, but here's what I did for my 24SX, that's permanently on a M6TTL 0.58: I ordered the 72mm filter adapter for this lens and fixed the 28Cron lenshood on it. Now it's lid with the unique design does not fall off as easily as the original off the dandy hood, the 24SX comes with. Did it in order to better avoid a hole burned by the sun into the cloth shutter of the M6. Could this btw be a risk with the metal shutter of the M8 and a wide-angle? wattsy Posted October 5, 2010 Share #6 Posted October 5, 2010 I'm amazed it's 'only' $27 but, like Mark, not surprised it is out of stock.
tdtaylor Posted October 5, 2010 Share #7 Posted October 5, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) The cover does not like to stay on. Can't tell you how many times it ended up in the bottom of the bag or on the ground. Already bought one replacement. On this one, I slightly softened it up against a light and put a slight concave bend in it from side to side- slight. It has kept its shape and more securely catches and stays put on the lens hood. The surprising thing is that this is one of the cheaper Leica brand hood covers.

jacarape Posted October 5, 2010 Share #9 Posted October 5, 2010 I lost mine for a 28/2,8 ASPH. It would fall off at eth slightest brush the way I carried the camera. The last time it fell off, I didn't bother to go back and look for it (National Forest). Sounds like you'd better get two
