azzo Posted September 25, 2010 Share #21 Posted September 25, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Sometimes however i look through flickr and even the leica master shots film photo's and i an underwhelmed by the drabness and greyness of most of the pictures,,, I'm not sure. It might be a good idea had you given some examples to see what exactly you mean by drabness and greyness.

Riccis Posted September 25, 2010 Share #23 Posted September 25, 2010 Now i see my words hilighted, it seems so cras of me to have written that, i should have used better, more descriptive words..i am sorry for appearing rude, i just want to learn about technique, that's all. Anything specific you want to learn? (i.e. want to learn more about self developing and printing or just want to concentrate in the shooting aspect)... Please feel free to ask anything about my work that you want to learn about. Cheers!
erl Posted September 26, 2010 Share #24 Posted September 26, 2010 shootinglulu, what stage are you at? Do you want to process your own films? Do you have any gear for it, or wish to upgrade? Past experience, or none? Clarify your desires and there will be plenty of advice forthcoming, probably more than you need. I think most honest critics will agree with your original observations. There is a lot of 'dull crap' floating around the net image sights. There is also very good stuff. Your goal should be to find how those that you admire achieve it. Formulate some direct questions, no matter how basic, and ask for advice. It is all here, somewhere. Taking action will get you further than wondering where to start. Take the plunge. We have a life raft ready and waiting.
pico Posted September 26, 2010 Share #25 Posted September 26, 2010 It ain't lighting, it ain't filters and it ain't monkeys! It is the tonal range that a correctly exposed B&W negative can record transferred correctly to an analog medium with a gloss surface ... With a susceptible subject. There is no formula that will make all subjects, or even the majority, good in the terms you propose.
