I sent an email to Leica USA to find out how they will be shipping it. For one thing, I want to be sure someone is home to receive it, and it would be great to track it through DHL or whoever on the internet. Will update the forum if I get an answer.

This information tracks with what I heard from Leica in New Jersey yesterday: late in the day, they returned my voicemail, saying my camera had been repaired and was in transit from Germany to the USA. (I mailed my camera to New Jersey on 12/1/06.)

 

Yes, I'd love to see it by this weekend but I don't expect it until sometime next week.

Mine has been back for a couple of days.

Much improved noise (I asked for check). ISO 1250 is filmlike.

Vertical bar in middle of DNG (not Jpeg) when opened with PS. Guy says this will be fixed with firmware.

 

There is progress here.

You know I think it's really outrageous to introduce cheers for a football team to this forum.

 

Of course if you were cheering the classy Brady led Patriots instead of the whinging Manning led Colts it'd be a different story. (I couldn't help myself. !:^)

Hi,

When I shipped the camera it was placed in the original inner box, and then air packs, and a outer cardboard box.

The return packing was the very same.

And yes, on the doorstep. We were not at home at the time of delivery. I don't know if it is true but, I have

read that DHL does not use a sigature delivery receipt policy

in the US.

Not M8, but the last three of my lenses back from coding - Nocti, 90/4, Macro-Adapter. Usual excellent job, I got them to look at the Nocti focussing action and it has come back silky-smooth, much easier to focus. So where previously I thought it was a bit of a dog to use, I can see us having a happy and fulfilling relationship!

 

I know some have had a bad experience, but mine of having 12 lenses coded, 1 CLA and 1 other repair this year has been uniformly excellent. I'm very confident the same excellence and attention to detail will extend to my M8 which is currently on the operating table.

I sent an appreciative email to my contact at CS, asking him to thank the engineer who worked on my Nocti for a great job and also for the high standard of service I receive from them.

 

He replied that this was just the sort of words it was good to hear at the end of a week in CS! LOL.

 

I can imagine it's a bit frenetic there at the moment. If you believe repair order numbers, 4930 repair orders in the space of 6 weeks, and that's before you take out Christmas and the New Year holidays.
