Guest imported_stefan_r Posted July 11, 2006 Share #6 Posted July 11, 2006 well yes, a "pretty" girl, what more? I still think that its not enough to hold up a camera towards a face and make a picture. a realation is needed...
fotografr Posted July 11, 2006 Share #7 Posted July 11, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) well yes, a "pretty" girl, what more? I still think that its not enough to hold up a camera towards a face and make a picture. a realation is needed... That seems very shallow thinking to me. If one really looks at a portrait like this, it tells a great deal about the subject and the photographer. The individual doesn't always have to be in some context for the portrait to have depth and meaning. Otherwise, many great photographers--Yousef Karsh, for example--have wasted their lives. fotografr Posted July 11, 2006 Share #9 Posted July 11, 2006 "why, if they were happy with superficial shots... everybody as he pleases, superficiality isn´t my piece of cake." They are only superficial because you refuse look deeply enough to see what is there.

They are only superficial because you refuse look deeply enough to see what is there. thats why I brought up the examples from Yousef Karsh, to show the difference, very interesting deep portraits! and! how I "look" is not your problem, just stick to the picture above and don´t get personal, leave me my opinion, like I leave in peace your opinion! regards Stefan
fotografr Posted July 11, 2006 Share #11 Posted July 11, 2006 " leave me my opinion, like I leave in peace your opinion!" I see. So you want to criticize someone's photography, but your comments may not then be disagreed with by anyone else. Thank you for making that clear to me. Now that I understand the rule, I'll be sure to follow it in the future.

Now that I understand the rule, I'll be sure to follow it in the future. I wrote about the photograph above.( I am here to talk about photography) I am not here to talk about other peoples comments. you can ask me about my opinion, thats not a problem at all, but you commented my comment in your first statement, in your second comment you went even more fare, you told me ( in your opinion) that I don´t "look" the right way.... fotografr Posted July 11, 2006 Share #13 Posted July 11, 2006 Arne--Getting back to your photograph, I think it is a striking and beautiful portrait and the framing is creative. She has a brightness in her eyes that tell a lot about her personality and you captured it well.
