Hi guys

Some thread here really got to me. Something about ramblers with members taking a "holy than than though attitude". Is this site about photography or an open "let me have my rant" site? I am currently assume the worst. Please give me good evidence that the powers to be can prove me wrong.

Is this site about photography. Good question . If your getting there is vibe here . I know what you mean:). Especailly when god forbid someone dares to post photo in a discussion :p. I not giving up on this place, but I got say it's not best site on the web for photography discussion. But there are some incredibly intelligent and talented photographers on this site. And being new to the Leica experience, I appreciate there wisdom expertise and input.

The site has a photo forum with almost 400,000 posts (around 40% of the total post in the forum as a whole), so I think it's fair to say that photography - as opposed to cameras - is an important part of the what the forum is about.

Posting of photographs outside of the forum is fine provided they're illusrating a technical point discussed in the thread, most people seem able to make the distinction.

For many, Leica is about the experience as well as the results, much more so than Nikon or Canon, or as my friend once said, "there are cameras you use for taking pictures, and there are cameras you use to enjoy taking pictures."

I think as much as anything this site is about people. We have been brought together by a love of Leica, but our interactions range widely beyond that, for good or ill. I am a firm believer in bringing people together and this Forum has been a major part of my life for much of the past eight years as a result. No man is an island, after all.

Regards,

People in Douglas may disagree with you here Bill. :D

But seriously, I very much enjoy this forum for the camaraderie as much as the wealth of photographic knowledge that resides here. There are times when discussions may turn into disputes, but on the whole, most people here are more than willing to try to help those with questions, and to offer advice when needed. Some will even go far out of their way to assist. Although health reasons have forced me to part with my 'M's at present, if I'm still around in a couple of years I hope to be purchasing new ones and getting back to RF photography. In the meantime, I still come here to read and learn, and to hope that I am able to assist others at times. :)

My best wishes on a full recovery and look forward to your input,

Nicole, I look forward to hearing your thoughts on your new M10 in a year or two's time.

All the best.

Barnack's Bar seems to be the place to rave. Perhaps this thread could move there? "Rambling" -- seemingly a word peculiar to Britain -- is quite appropriate.

i know what the OP means. there are some really good threads that are definitely about photography by leica cameras. there are also some arrogant pricks around who criticise and take apart every word of someone's post. some want everyone to know how many lenses they own, others just find any opportunity to post their photos up regardless of relevance.

you just have to look past them because you won't find any other forum, perhaps rangefinder forums, that has members with so much knowledge and experience exclusive to leica cameras. there are some members who genuinely give an opinion with the intention to help. just remember the names of the idiot members and don't bother reading what they say, or put them on ignore.

this is forum is very much about photography.
