Just wondering from others who have purchased M8 prior to Dec 31st:

1) About how long did it take from registration to getting your letter about the lens rebate?

2) Has anyone received (and can post) the revised US lens discount prices?

Thanks.

I received a letter just yesterday that included a price list and order form (I still, however, have not taken delivery of an M8).

I was surprised by the price list because the lenses are more expensive than I expected. Compared to B&H's prices, the average savings is approximately $500. In the case of the 50mm Noctilux, the Leica price is higher than the B&H price.

What US discount plans? The letter clearly says that all prices based on an international standard. There discount is from that not the usa price.

I actually received a follow-up stating that there WILL be a revised list reflecting regional costs. Some people are stating they have the new list already, although at this point, I am not sure if anyone in the US has gotten it or not.

I received an e-mail first telling me that there will be a new price list. This was on December 29.

Then last week I got an undated letter with Mr. Lee's signature with a price list. I have no idea whether this is the old or the new list.

Some key prices in Euros are:

Elmart-M 28mm f/2.8 ASPH : 945

Summilux-M 35mm f/1.4 ASPH: 2,167

Tri-Elmar-M 28-35-50 mm f/4 ASPH: 2,170

Do any of you have different prices? Or are these for Canada only?

In a 29 December email Leica said this about the price list:

Dear LEICA M8 Customer,

In our haste to respond as quickly as possible to LEICA M8 owners regarding our CEO's lens offer, we might have mistakenly sent an incorrect version of the price list to some customers.

1. We prepared two versions of the price list - one for countries that implemented a Value-Added Tax such as the EU and Canada, and one for countries that do not have a Value-Added Tax structure.

2. Also the price of the LEICA NOCTILUX-M 50 mm f/1 was wrong in both price lists.

3. The prices both price lists represent the complete price that the M8 owner pays to Leica - that means all applicable customs duties, VAT (where applicable) as well as shipping and customs clearing costs.

In the very near future, you will receive the correct price list for the country you live in, and the prices will reflect a price approximately 30% lower than the average Suggested Retail Price of these Leica products worldwide.

We again apologize.

Kind regards

Thanks everyone. So, sounds like, so far, no one has received the US version of the price list?

I registered on Dec 29th, but haven't received a letter yet from Leica. I realize they were closed for the holidays so I should probably just sit tight, but wondering how long it's taken others to get their letters.

A lot of us got the first letter (with the wrong price list). I don't think anyone has seen the second letter with the corrected list. Leica responded today to an email I sent asking about it and said they should be sent out in the next few days. If it's like the last one and comes from Germany, it could take a while to get here.

I received an updated version (1.09 firmware) on Dec 30th (I paid by credit card Dec 29 with next day delivery). I registered it on line Dec 30th, and also sent in the postcard showing purchase date. Does anyone know if I will get the 30% discount, since my M8 is one of the "fixed" ones? I do understand that the early adopters, with all the problems, are certainly entitled to the discount, but I'm not sure about us who paid before Dec 31, but got updated bodies.

Thanks

Yes David, You are supposed to get the 30% discount.

it was to be made available (per the dealers) to anyone who paid in full prior to the turn of the new year, whether or not they actually took delivery. I guess to keep the pipeline full with the issues.

Has Leica said how long the offer applies? I paid for my camera on the 22nd of December, registered it on 1/2/07 I think. I'm pretty tapped out financially after spending a good deal for the body, the 28mm Asph, and a used 90 Elmarit, so I'm hoping the offer will last long enough for me to replenish my bank account.
