I've heard nothing from Leica concerning fixing my M8?

Was I suppose to do something? I registered for the free filters which was acknowledged by Leica. I've sent in the warranty card. And I got the e-mail appologizing for the price list screw-up (I never got the actual price list).

Who do I contact? Or should I just wait a little longer? Irakly got his camera the same day as I, from the same dealer, and has been contacted as well as received the revised 30% discount price list. I hope I haven't fallen into a hole somehow.

Just call customer service in Solms. The number is on the back of your manual. They are really helpful and do speak English.

Marc,

I'm in almost the same boat as you. I picked up my M8 at about the time the news of the magenta broke. I've done everything related to contacting Leica, registering, etc... as soon as the opportunity arose, and I haven't yet heard from them re: sending it in for the fix. I have had my filter order confirmed, and I did receive (yesterday) the letter with the 30% discount lens price list.

I'm just going to wait until I hear, figuring that the longer I wait, the more issues will be fixed at the same time when I do send the camera in. Still, it's mildly unsettling, this silence.

I contacted Leica a couple of days back about the IR filters and they told me that ETA is Feb.

About the rest of your ordeal, one short email to Leica should allow them to check your status and send your verification.

Weirdly, my letter has prices quoted in Euro. The prices are:

WATE: 2.170

Noct: 3.495

28/2: 2.027

75/1.4: 2.307

I just talked to my dealer (Dale Laboratories in Hollywood FL) and was told the following: You should return your camera to New Jersey Leica Service Center (Obviously for USA customers only) with a giant number 8 on the box. They will then send to Leica Solms who will update the unit and return to Leica N.J. Leica N.J will then return directly to the customer. This way the customer is relieved from all shipping costs other than to Leica N.J. and no hassle with customs etc. My understanding is that the turnaround time in Solms is to be not greater than 10 days. Of course transit time to N.J and then from N.J to Solms, Solms to N.J and N.J back to you is added on. Sounds to me that a great performance would be to have the camera back in your hands (Hot! Cold and Dead?) would be four to six weeks. I think that if you send the camera back at the end of January to early February you may avoid the current backlog of some 1500 cameras in the queue!

Best I know for now

I can confirm that the Solms turnaround time (at least for an EU customer) is within the stated 10 day period. My M8 was picked up on 27th December and was returned to me today which is not bad considering the New Year Holiday in between and the shipping times.

Incidentally, I'm surprised that USA customers are expected to pick up the tab for the shipping cost (even if it is only to New Jersey).
