After a couple of days with my M8, I can tell you some of my feelings.

Just to have it in my hand is a privilege. For now I have two borrowed lenses: the 35mm f2 and the 50mm f2.

After learning a bit how to use it, all my worriers disappeared. Manual focus is so gentle. Range finder is great. I like walking, so I went for a walk and I felt very light. It has nothing to do with my Nikon gear. I took some pictures with a smile on my face, but the smile became astonished face when I saw the pictures in the computer. OHHHH!

I understand that some professionals may be a bit annoyed, but for me and for the kind of photography I like, the M8 is just perfect.

I have now one real problem: I don't like anymore the pictures I took before having my wonderful M8!

Thank you Leica. You’ve made my dreams come true!

Miguel--You have no idea what you have just done to yourself. First, there will come a succession of new lenses. Then, perhaps another M8. When the Leica bug grips you, it grips hard.

Love the photo of the cat scratching itself on the wall. Consider posting it on the Photo Forum. It's a bit lonely over there lately with all the fuss about the M8 here.

Oh Miguel!

Mine's gone - back to Solms for the fix.

Like you, I've had SLR cameras before, you description of the focus being 'gentle' is so good.

I'm not sure how I can do without mine until it returns!

Lovely photos - especially the first one.

Enjoy!

Last week before christmas I let my M8 in the good hands of our belgian distributor De Beukelaere . Today :) they told me the M8 is back and the efficient and kind people from De Beukelaere asked me or they have to send me the M8 direct to me , or to my local agent . The choosen solution in Belgium is that our country distributor do the best for their customers , it means full organisation !, I am very glad about the fast service and kind support from our country distributor and also our local agent Verstraeten / Gent. I am waiting for the Summicron 28/f2 asph in order ( 30% is OK ) and will buy later also the 75 Summicron. ( only because the service from our distributor is the same high value as the products  )

All my knowledge and positif feelings for the Leica are there because I remember more then 50 years the education and many interesting conversations about Leica and his History with my aunt and friend and great Leicaist

. Last year he died at the age of 84 years and after a very actif life , but in the forum I found a lot of new friends ... even when they have some justified critics ...

And yes, before I send the M8 to Germany ... I made some pictures, and they are amazing ! ;)

In particular, could you have 'seen" the 2d shot, the one of the cat, with a SLR on ground glass? Had you been shooting DSLR I'm pretty sure you would have not taken the same shot as the diffuesed parts of the scene on the Ground Glass would have caused you to frame differantly.

congratulations on the new camera!
