A digital R solution? A whole new line? Something that takes M lenses? Hopefully, a new body that can take R and M lenses

Kyler. Posted September 18, 2010 Author Share #45 Posted September 18, 2010 I'm a little dissapointed that we won't be hearing about the new EVIL/R solution at photokina, according to Steve Huff.

sfage Posted September 18, 2010 Share #50 Posted September 18, 2010 I really hope Huff's crystal ball messes up this time. A titanium M9? Is that for people that own a fancy car and wear the camera as a piece of jewelry? Man, come on. There's a 7000 dollar hole in the product line between the X1 and the M9 (with lens). Seriously. Come on. Let's make a camera that photographers need, want and will use. If that that T9 is the only thing they come up with, I'm really going to start to wonder where my allegiances should lay. Seriously. This is idiotic.
mooky Posted September 18, 2010 Share #51 Posted September 18, 2010 I'm a little dissapointed that we won't be hearing about the new EVIL/R solution at photokina, according to Steve Huff. Believe me, you won't be the only one disappointed if they show nothing and certainly they know people are EXPECTING them to present at least an idea. Remember, if Steve Huff is saying something that means whomever has told him is possibly violating an NDA or they may not even have the correct info. Any comments from them that are like, 'we're working on it' won't cut it for me.
sblitz Posted September 18, 2010 Share #52 Posted September 18, 2010 perhaps the reason leica recently fired the ceo is that he didn't have an EVIL ready in time and the best they can do is talk prototype blah blah blah ..... personally i would prefer upgraded versions of the m9 and x1. cameras are fine but, as members of the forum all know, there is plenty of room to make them better. mooky Posted September 18, 2010 Share #54 Posted September 18, 2010 Huff refers to a « new way to show the frame lines » of the M9. Any idea about this? Andreas Kaufmann suggested a system that automatically shows frame lines that goes beyond just optical that could mean the possible use of zoom lenses, but he wasn't necessarily talking about a traditional M body. I think Steve Huff's details are bit too detailed to be out floating around - nothing is for certain until it's certain. Monday evening for the news and then we'll all be commenting like hungry dogs over a long awaited meal.
rosuna Posted September 18, 2010 Share #55 Posted September 18, 2010 Huff refers to a « new way to show the frame lines » of the M9. Any idea about this? No idea, but he refers to the M9. A new version of the M9 with a modified viewfinder? A new version of the M9 with live view? The new special edition M9 (Titanium) seems to incorporate this "thing". Huff says it is "gorgeous". Is this the new M9.2 or a first (special) edition of the M9.2?

Any comments from them that are like, 'we're working on it' won't cut it for me. Maybe Huff heard about it from someone under an NDA but didn't realize, then once he figured out that the person he heard it from was under an NDA he tried to cover up the tracks by saying that they wouldn't be announcing it... We can always hope...
John Thawley Posted September 18, 2010 Share #58 Posted September 18, 2010 Or maybe they told him one thing, then another.... then someone else something else and then retracted the whole thing JUST...... So people on the forums would start rubbing their collective ass-cheeks together resulting in totally knotted knickers and going all Gaga... oh, no wait, she's Polaroid. Amazing thread. Paolo.Battista Posted September 18, 2010 Share #60 Posted September 18, 2010 perhaps the reason leica recently fired the ceo is that he didn't have an EVIL ready in time and the best they can do is talk prototype blah blah blah ..... personally i would prefer upgraded versions of the m9 and x1. cameras are fine but, as members of the forum all know, there is plenty of room to make them better.[/quote/] Well, a "Design Session" normally means "we are about to do these things and they will be on the market by ....". So, I don't think that a Panasonic DMC-LX5 rebranded camera or a VLUX-something are worthy of a design session. The same for some new lenses. An S lens has been announced in these days without the need of thast session. So what's remaining? A new camera system or a REALLY new technology for rangefinder type cameras. It's up to everyone to hope for his best wishes. As far as X1 is concearned, I NEVER saw so many "mint +++" cameras on sale on the used market as for X1.
