Memory card recovery?

Is there a cardreader (a cheap accessory) available to connect to usb of the pc?

That would permit another look at the device. There exists software for this problem too.

My P880 formatted the memory card (of course my fault), the pictures could not be recovered.

MediaRecover usually does the job 100% for me (though I currently have a 16GB card I deleted without getting the last photos off of and where it closes down after having saved the first 150 shots).

But for 2 GB cards with JPG and DNG it has always done the job 10%

Works with about 1 hour per GB.

James,

A second tick for PhotoRescue, which shipped free with SanDisk memory cards for awhile. I ran it one of my cards to recover some pictures, which it found, but it also found pictures from 18 months previously even though the card had been formatted in the camera at least every week. It seems that as long as the card hasn't been overwritten by the camera saving new pictures then the existing pictures should be recoverable.

Pete.

Photorescue - PhotoRescue Home Page - PhotoRescue Wizard, PhotoRescue Expert, PhotoRescue Advanced seems to be a well-regarded program (Mac & PC). There is a trial version available from their web site.

Just did the trial of this and it found all. So I bought it, only 29,95 Euro and it will fix everything on a 16GB card (I ejected too early from the card reader and then deleted as I thouht I had it all).

Normally these programs will also recover from formatted cards. One thing on PC Sometimes Windows will see the files as TIFF, one should rename them to DNG and then they will open easily.
