ShaneH Posted August 31, 2010 Share #1 Posted August 31, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, it may be my imagination but since I dropped my D2 the other day it is finding it difficult to auto focus in anything apart from perfect light....does this sound like I may have damaged something? John Thawley Posted August 31, 2010 Share #3 Posted August 31, 2010 Hi, it may be my imagination but since I dropped my D2 the other day it is finding it difficult to auto focus in anything apart from perfect light....does this sound like I may have damaged something? Andy is right. A check up wouldn't / couldn't hurt. But perhaps before you do that, you might check a few things to make sure it's not just your paranoia or imagination. Make sure the lens barrel didn't get bumped to Macro (this is slower). Make sure you're not trying to get too close and causing the auto-focus to hunt. And, the camera has never been a stunning performer in low light. So, with that in mind, run a few controlled 'tests' in variable lighting situations from good solid daylight to maybe indoor light during the day. Give it a try... if you're still convinced the performance has changed, then by all means send it in. Good luck. JT
ShaneH Posted August 31, 2010 Author Share #4 Posted August 31, 2010 Thanks guys, I will do a few more tests but at the moment I can only use AF on clear sunny days:( - it's definately not on Macro, current settings are AF, A & F2.0 with ISO @ 100....anything you would change? wda Posted August 31, 2010 Share #5 Posted August 31, 2010 I know you are talking 'auto-focus'; but have you done some searching focus tests using manual focusing? At least that would prove that the lens mechanism is OK. Also, use a freshly charged battery just in case it is a power issue.
