The front viewfinder construction question in M3!

I found out the loosening of the front viewfinder window glass in my M3,

when cleaning up dusts by my index finger with polisher cloth.

I was afraid of pushing too hardly and breaking the window glass.

But when another M3’s window glass was depressed by finger tip,

the glass was not so stable as I thought too.

Both are fragile and unstable to the pressure from anterior.

I’m afraid that small particles of dusts, sands, rain drops ,moisture ,

so on such a thing may intrude into the inside of the finder mechanism

from slits between the finder glass and a body frame .

Is it default ? If so ,how opposing against the foreign bodies?

I think it more stable in M3.

Another type of window (for example MP,M6,M9) is rigid ,

not occurring depression against finger pressure.

Is there anyone for same experience?

How about MP-3 just as same type of the finder as M3?:(

Thanks a lot of practical adovices in advance! :)

My M3 double stroke from 1957 is quite stable. I'm applying quite a bit of pressure to all three windows, but cannot see that they're giving at all.

Good luck.

The front window on my M3 is also kind of loose. I noticed that when I accidentally touched it with my finger.

I am not worried about it but am cautious about not touching / pressing it.

Thank you for quick reply, mmk60.

My experience is not the only one.

That makes me getting relieved about it.

I am worry about whether sending my cameras to repair survice or not.

But decided to keep them just as they are.

I must keep in mind to avoid pushing the window carelessly any more.

I made too much rough handling them all this time.:(

I wish my tinny posting will ring an alarm bell

on handling the view finder window.

Leica M is not always solid.

Your folks,

take care with your Leica M gently.:D
