I really like this camera.

 

I did get a couple of shots with bands in them. Must have been lights in the upper stage that hit that magic angle at the edge of the sensor because all were shot at 2500, 1/250, and the adjacent images do not display the problem.

 

This has been a fantastic afternoon.

 

Yesterday, I managed to get the profiles working with C1. My computer is severely stupid, but I managed to pull it thru.

Andreas, I just added the details at the beginning. ALL were shot at iso 2500. We all know the chip is noisy at this level

 

But, even tho I ask the dancers to stay in the air for a couple of seconds so I can get the shot, they just look at my like I have 2 heads.

The last picture; what happened to her waist? Is that because the Profile took out all the definitions in black?

 

P.S. I guess my monitor needs calibration? Or do you [anyone] see the fabric texture in her waist?

if even downsized and neatimaged pictures exhibit that much noise as the first four shown here they are unusable for any other purpose than presenting them on the web.

Why is the first photo's much more noisier than the last ones, if you shot all images with ISO 2500...? I think the first ones are way to noisy (for my liking) but the last 3-4 images look's the way i've seen from my own M8...

i think the photos do an excellent job with the colors, dynamics and gesture in a difficult setting. Nice to see that from a rangefinder...must have been close to the stage if that is a 28. Bill, I think you indicated onec before how acceptable that quiet shutter was. nice work

Why is the first photo's much more noisier than the last ones, if you shot all images with ISO 2500...?

 

Underexposed shots are always noiser than correctly exposed ones. To avoid excessive noise when shooting at high ISO's you want to make sure to expose to the right of the histogram (which of course partially eliminates the advantge of setting the high ISO at all).

What phone is that, one sent back from the year 2020?

 

The first 4 images do have excessive noise and I'd not be satisfied with them. I think my C* 350D could do better if it was possible to focus it under these circumstances, which however isn't likely (don't forget there's more to a camera than just the imaging sensor).

The ones after that are quite nice, although most images technically look ok at such a low resolution.

Mark, the dancer's vest is dark blue velvet and it disappears into the blackness of the wings.

 

Even tho she has no midsection, she is perfectly placed. This dancer was trained at the Kirov and shows it.

Very impressive images. I'm waiting for my M8 so I can't compare the amount of noise but there appears to me to be very little for ISO 2500.

 

The most surprising thing for me is the dof you managed to get at f2.8 (full depth of the stage): have you found this to be a particular characteristic of the 28mm/2.8 ASPH?

In another thread Bill mentioned he shot at 2500 and had to push a stop in Capture One. That gives you about 5,000iso for the first few shots people are complaining about. Bill opted for a higher shutter speed with digital noise vesus lots of motion blur. It was his decision and probably better than blury pictures.
