roofus Posted August 18, 2010 Share #1 Posted August 18, 2010 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I recently purchased an Elmar 50mm f2.8 (newer version) encoded for the M9. It's a great lens, however I have no manual for it. Can someone direct me to a photcopy of the manual. I simply want to make sure I am locking/unlocking and collapsing the lens properly etc. It seem fine but . . . . Thanks! Edited August 18, 2010 by roofus can't spell! roofus Posted August 18, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted August 18, 2010 That's only the spec sheet not the manual! I came across that site earlier.
redbaron Posted August 18, 2010 Share #4 Posted August 18, 2010 Lenses have manuals?
spydrxx Posted August 18, 2010 Share #5 Posted August 18, 2010 I don't remember having a manual for that lens when I owned it. I think Leica pretty much assumed if you bought it you know how to use it.
alun Posted August 19, 2010 Share #6 Posted August 19, 2010 What don't you know how to do with the lens? I'm sure people here will offer advice that goes far beyond a manual if you ask them....
atournas Posted August 19, 2010 Share #7 Posted August 19, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, I own the lens and I think I have a manual in the lens's box. If I find it today, I let you know and I will either copy it or take some digital shots and forward them to you. Keep an eye on this post Paul
atournas Posted August 20, 2010 Share #8 Posted August 20, 2010 Roofus, I sent you a private e-mail, but in case you are in a hurry, here's the passage you are looking for from the lens's manual: "EXTENDING AND COLLAPSING THE LENS In order to enable the photographer to read the aperture scale from above, the white index point on the aperture ring must point to the red mark on the lens mount. In this position, the lens is fully extended and locked with a brief turn to the right. ATTENTION: THE CAMERA IS ONLY READY FOR USE WHEN THE ELMAR HAS BEEN FULLY EXTENDED AND LOCKED. In order to collapse the lens, carry out the inverse steps." Paul
papimuzo Posted August 20, 2010 Share #9 Posted August 20, 2010 (edited) Perhaps I should add that to avoid trouble with M8/M9, it is recommanded to mount/unmount this lens fuly expanded. Edited August 20, 2010 by papimuzo correction
roofus Posted August 20, 2010 Author Share #10 Posted August 20, 2010 Thank you atoumas and papimuzo. That is the information I was looking for!!! Generally a manual for a simple lens is not required, however for they are useful for atypical lenses such as the Elmar 50, the WATE and the Summicron DR. That's why I asked!!!
