I just picked up my second body. The number difference is about 2500. The first body from November 17th. It seems about 1500 M8's were churned out since the resuming of the deliveries. Not bad.

Its wrong to assume that every number has actually been assigned to a camera produced. Maybe LEICA started a new number range for those bodies that did not have to go back to Solms for the hardware fix.

I don't see any new ones being sent here

B&H has listed the M8 on "back order" for weeks & they are major Leica sponsors

I suspect the factory has been so busy retro fitting early M8s (and maybe chipping lenses) that they have not been turning out new cameras

of course the situation may be different in Europe, but in the US there have been very few, if any, M8s for sale

maybe the weakened dollar has something to do with this

I got a silver M8 from B&H last week. In fact it was delivered last Friday. Someone on this board mentioned they showed in stock at B&H, I ordered immediately and later that morning they showed out of stock again.

I believe they are trickling in a few at a time.

I think they stopped at 3101500. My first one was 310 11**. This one is 31025**.

Mine is from the first batch as well. I suspect it will have higher resale value because of the IR defect. Its unique.

All batches of the M8 have and will have (on going) the IR "defect". So your M8 is not so unique after all. The back to Solms fix is for banding, green blobs, etc. not the IR "defect". Sorry :(

Terry.
