Advertisement Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Hi h00ligan, Take a look here X1 first compact approved by Getty. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
andybarton Posted August 6, 2010 Share #2 Posted August 6, 2010 Actually, it's via Amateur Photographer... The X1 is the ONLY compact approved by Getty. Interesting. Must be very satisfying to the gnomes on Solms.
h00ligan Posted August 6, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted August 6, 2010 Yes Andy, I attributed where I read the news - but the article I figured was self attributed with link click - not sure why the eye roll? Being the first must surely make them feel good! Since it was just approved, it is the only - but also the first
andybarton Posted August 6, 2010 Share #4 Posted August 6, 2010 Only because I read the news on AP earlier, but hadn't had a chance to post, being on the motorway...
h00ligan Posted August 6, 2010 Author Share #5 Posted August 6, 2010 Oh, ok - well while some will say that Getty approval is not a good thing, or that it's irrelevant, it certainly backs up the iq claim.

andybarton Posted August 6, 2010 Share #7 Posted August 6, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) How can Getty approval NOT be good? Interesting that Getty haven't confirmed this - but since this story (and the original story upon which it is based) have been out and about for a couple of weeks, the fact that they haven't denied it is also interesting. Somewhere, there must be a full list of Getty approved cameras. Edit: http://contributors.gettyimages.com/article.asp?section_id=4&article_id=
andybarton Posted August 6, 2010 Share #8 Posted August 6, 2010 The link in my post above has all approved cameras. Including the X1.
h00ligan Posted August 6, 2010 Author Share #9 Posted August 6, 2010 Some photographers seem to think (based on reading posts) that Getty is a soul sucker.. I know nothing about selling photography so I have no idea how valid it is.. but I guess maybe it's people not good enough to be accepted whining? phancj Posted August 7, 2010 Share #10 Posted August 7, 2010 It is interesting also how NONE of the micro 4/3 are included in the list.
BB W Posted August 7, 2010 Share #11 Posted August 7, 2010 Thanks for posting this news! I try to keep an eye on different sites, but don't seem to manage to do it very well. Seems like very good news to me, not that they'll ever come knocking on my door I don't think.

BB W Posted August 7, 2010 Share #13 Posted August 7, 2010 Getty has apparently already verbally acknowledged it - there's an update on that Leica Rumors piece, this time referring to the British Journal of Photography.

Guest badbob Posted August 11, 2010 Share #18 Posted August 11, 2010 If you attend one of their wine-and-cheese get-togethers in So. California, just bring your X1 in a Leica case like the 18709. Several of the snobs there will recognize it immediately. Go anywhere else and you'll be ignored. Just a thought as to why Getty would add it to their list. jsrockit Posted August 11, 2010 Share #19 Posted August 11, 2010 I get approached about mine in NYC often as well... usually by creepy guys, not snobs.
RichardM8 Posted August 12, 2010 Share #20 Posted August 12, 2010 I get a lot of friendly questions and remarks from all sorts of people in Amsterdam. In or out it's case. Amazing... :-)
