I think it would be interesting to see the location in the replies - I can't tell where Miguel is located. Dirk Moeller

I'm from Spain. Then... if some of you know somebody in Leica's Factory, please tell them to ship cameras to Spain.;) I'm on holidays and it's a pity to spend almost all my holidays without M8.

Cheers!

Black or chrome?

Chrome - don't want to rock the boat on the domestic front. Let's give Patricia a chance "not to notice";)

Btw we are going to do some serious printing then. I aready had some 60x40cm professional cm prints done and I am wildly enthusiastic. He has some very fancy printing going on and we'll see if it can get even better.

I'm not sure about Europe, but in the US, if you call around town it's possible to find the mid-size camera stores having a couple. Don't try the famous/big stores because that's where everyone go to and they usually have a long paid-waiting list.

You hit the nail on the head. I got on a list the second week in December. The Friday before Christmas I sent an e-mail to my dealer, just sort of checking in. I really didn't care whether I got black or silver chrome. The dealer e-mailed me back the same day, told me to call him. I had a silver body two days later, firmware 1.09.

So you are absolutely correct--look in the less obvious places--smaller to mid-sized dealers--where demand is lower and you might get lucky and find one--at least in silver.

I think the sooner you get it, the better--on all sorts of levels. Mine seems to need a rangefinder adjustment, had a very dirty sensor, and may have a problem with the LCD screen. So mine is making a visit to Allendale, arriving today. Will be interesting to see if they can turn it around in a couple of days, or whether it might have to go to Solms. God I hope not.

USA saga: heard about it two years ago;

ordered one from an authorized USA Leica dealer in June of '06;

paid for it on 7 November;

received it three days later;

returned it to Leica in New Jersey on 1 December for it's flight to be "fixed" in Germany;

hope to see it before Friday, 12 January 'cause I need it for a job on the following day.
