gravastar Posted January 4, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted January 4, 2007 Nearly 8 months and waiting. Perhaps it's a good thing, time for Leica to fix the problems. Â Bob.
Venkman Posted January 4, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted January 4, 2007 I think it would be interesting to see the location in the replies - I can't tell where Miguel is located. Â I was lucky enough that the longest waiting time for mine was my credit card to clear - the cam was in stock with a small dealer I walked in just to see if he has some Dlux 3's
stunsworth Posted January 4, 2007 Share #4 Â Posted January 4, 2007 SInce the end of October. There seem to be more issues with deliveries in the UK than other parts of the world. Â I'm number 5 on my dealer's list, so hopefully won't have to wait too long.
arminw Posted January 4, 2007 Share #5 Â Posted January 4, 2007 I've ordered mine in Nov last year and still waiting .. I don't even know where on the waiting list I am? Went to my dealer yesterday and was told Leica is trying to fill all the back orders by March. One has to be patient and wait, but it is so bloody hard . wattsy Posted January 4, 2007 Share #6 Â Posted January 4, 2007 Nearly 8 months and waiting. Perhaps it's a good thing, time for Leica to fix the problems. Â Not good. Who is your dealer? Â There seems to be a fair bit of luck involved. I ordered mine in mid-August and recieved it in the first week of November.
eudemian Posted January 4, 2007 Share #7 Â Posted January 4, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Paid the deposit in late October and am still only 13th on my supplier's list. Patience is so hard but I am glad I wasn't one of the intrepid pioneers. UK location.
bnelson Posted January 4, 2007 Share #8 Â Posted January 4, 2007 I was extremely lucky. I was reading this this forum and someone posted about silver M8's being in stock at B&H in New York. Ordered online and received it the next day. Â I had intended to get on a list early but just didn't do it so I was having to wait. Â Love the images on this camera. I also love it's size and feel. carstenw Posted January 4, 2007 Share #10 Â Posted January 4, 2007 I got mine on the 6th of November, and sent it back two or three days later. I am still waiting for it to be returned, although apparently it is being shipped at the moment...
leicaM8freak Posted January 4, 2007 Share #11 Â Posted January 4, 2007 I called my dealer in the Netherlands on November 12 to see if and when the M8 was available and if I needed pre ordering..to my surprise he had one in stock (black) which I of course bought straight away. Now was I lucky? yes and no...my M8 had all the issues mentioned in such as many postings...dust and grease flying around messing up the best shots.., wacky out of focus..dying on me without a given reason.. So really enjoying the M8...no At this moment the camera is in Solms together with my lenses (sent December 18) and I have to wait and see when it will be returned to me. Expect (hope) all issues will be solved by then So this might take another 2 to 3 weeks.. Â Looking back I think the ones that have to wait until M8 MkII is available are not too bad off...giving the fact they don't have to go through all this hassle. Â Look at the bright side!!! marknorton Posted January 4, 2007 Share #12 Â Posted January 4, 2007 SInce the end of October. There seem to be more issues with deliveries in the UK than other parts of the world. Â That's because Leica UK don't know what to do with all these cameras which keep turning up - their price-list only goes up to "M7"...

Cheers Reginald (Ireland)  You have made a good point and I'm not too upset having to wait now...the truth is the camera just wasn't ready for the initial release and it would have been better for Leica to introduce the camera but telling people the camera wont be available until the beginning of 2007. Sigma had do something similar with their SD14.
gduveen Posted January 4, 2007 Share #14 Â Posted January 4, 2007 Ordered in August from a dealer in London -still waiting. I was there yesterday and was told maybe March, but like others in the UK it seems very hard to have any clear sense of what is going on. fotografr Posted January 4, 2007 Share #15 Â Posted January 4, 2007 I've been waiting over 4 months. Since early November I have been "next on the list" for a black M8 from a dealer in Germany. I could have had a chrome M8 (with bugs), but am holding out for a black one. For some reason, Leica keep pumping out the chrome far more than the black. I don't get it. The black M6 outsold chrome by about 10 to 1. I'm not sure why the M8 should be any different.
matt736 Posted January 4, 2007 Share #16 Â Posted January 4, 2007 Its been since 16th September 2006 ,over 3 months and I am only 3rd now on my dealers pre- paid list for a black M8 . To my knowledge he has only had 1 black and 3 silver in so far ,as I mentioned before it amazes me where all the black M8s have gone, maybe we should tally up how many the UK has had so far.I bet its not more than 50, which i have read on another posting Popflash in the US have already received 30 units so far , Â Cheers Matthew. AlanJW Posted January 4, 2007 Share #17 Â Posted January 4, 2007 I'm waiting since mid-October. My dealer thinks I;ll get one by Februrary. The good news is he did not require a deposit.

arthury Posted January 4, 2007 Share #19 Â Posted January 4, 2007 I'm not sure about Europe, but in the US, if you call around town it's possible to find the mid-size camera stores having a couple. Don't try the famous/big stores because that's where everyone go to and they usually have a long paid-waiting list.
mat_mcdermott Posted January 4, 2007 Share #20 Â Posted January 4, 2007 I've been waiting a little over a month, was told I was number 50 (or so) on the list and February would be a best-case scenario to get mine, but March would be more likely.
