FWIW:

 

This was posted for DSLR, but I can't imagine it being any different for any digital camera. Looks like it might have been video-related, since the aperture would have been open all the time. But I suspect if the laser hits at the right exposure for a camera, it'd could do some damage.

Shutter open all the time, not (necessarily) aperture, but yes, video (or live-view for stills) leaves the sensor "exposed" in more ways than one.
