How to upload images: Prepare the image as follows: 1.   The image should be sRGB and 8-bits 2.   Reduce the size to 2480 pixels on the longest side. (smaller sizes can be set, but are not recommended) 3.   Sharpen properly for screen. 4.   Save as JPG to your desktop, reducing JPG quality to produce 1000 kB (2000 kB for sponsoring members). 5.   In Lightroom these parameters should be set in the Export dialog. 6.   In the Forum posting or editing box, click “c

Time to say goodbye

After seven years I will let my Leica X1 go tomorrow. Hopefully it will find a worthy new owner, who treats this gem right and has as much fun as this iconic little piece of photographic gear brought me. Although it is only a camera, I feel a bit of sorrow, but I collected to many cameras in the last years. That's why I used the X1 too seldom, and a life in a shelf is not the right thing for it. This is a picture I shot only a few minutes before and I gladly share it here:

I struggled long with this decision and when I finally placed it online for auction I felt regret the moment I clicked the button to start my offer. But otherwise I couldn't justify the shelf life for the camera no longer. I have the X-Vario as well, and although it lacks the slightly better open aperture of 2.8, it proofed to be a more versatile instrument for my needs. The last kick came with a recent purchase of a Fujifilm X100F, which has some benefits, esp. it's hybrid viewfinder and has the same focal length as the X1. 

The best thing to happen would be a new owner of my camera posting his pictures here in this thread :)
