I got my M8 back today. As expected it has 1.09 installed. First tests under virtually identical conditions to those which gave the dreadful images back in early November show no sign whatsoever of any streaking / banding / vertical strip defects. Images are much cleaner and the "muddy" colours have gone. So there has been significant progress. I now think I'm going to like it, but I will wait for more tests in daylight before finally making up my mind.

Not perfect though - it still thinks my 35 mm Summicron-M f/2 ASPH is a Summilux! Perhaps 1.10 will cure such problems which don't seem to have any consequences for me.

35 asph summilux should be 011101, 35 asph summicron should be 011110.......did you buy yours coded or did you send it off for coding?

I just checked, my Summicron is coded as 011110. The lens was sent back to Solms to be coded in July '06.

This "fault" has been known about by Leica since early November '06. I'm just surprised that 1.09 does not correct it.

The camera was returned to Leica UK at the very beginning of December '06, at their request. It arrived back apparently on Friday 22nd December but was too late to be collected or be sent out by carrier before the Christmas break. I collected it from Milton Keynes this morning.
