I have a question if someone wouldn't mind helping: I recently started scanning with a coolscan 9000 35mm. I've been mostly happy with the results so far. 1 image attached has lines through the center of the image. Do you think this is a scanner issue or a film developing issue? I tried scanning with both silverfast and nikonscan with the same result. Thanks a lot!

Do you mean the light/dark lines across the sign pointing to Brooklyn Bridge? If so, I note they don't exist on anything else in the image at all, ruling out a development issue. I also see they are parallel to the top and bottom edges of the sign, and not horizontal across the scanned frame, which I think rules out a hardware problem as the scanner travels back and forth. Since they are there with Silverfast and Nikonscan, we can assume it's not a setting in the software. I think they were really there on the sign! Are you able to go back and look at the sign?

I have to agree with everyone above, those lines are on the sign. They may not be visible right away when you look at it, it may have to do with that "reflecting paint" they use on those signs to make them more visible at night. And maybe the lines only show up when viewed at certain angles, with light striking the sign at a certain angle.

Got a Coolscan 9000 myself, I think you're really gonna like that scanner, I know I sure do.

Best,

-Tim
