lovelyleica Posted January 2, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted January 2, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I guess so. Â Look at this picture of the "coupole des Galeries Lafayette" shot today in this monumental shopping mall in Paris at f2.8 1/60s ISO640 with Leica M8 + Elmarit 21mm ASPH. It wasn't taken with the best parameters for such a photo like tripod + low ISO + middle f-stop, but nevertheless the result is just great. Advertisement Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 Hi lovelyleica, Take a look here Leica M8 + Elmarit 21mm Asph - sharpest combination for 18x27mm sensor cameras ?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
arnoldkramer Posted January 2, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted January 2, 2007 I have been wanting to understand the difference (in terms of optical performance) between this 21mm Elmarit and the TRI-ELMAR-M 16-18-21mm when used at the 21mm focal length. If, other than the one stop speed difference, they are the same, why would one purchase the 21mm? The prices are the same.
johnkuo Posted January 2, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted January 2, 2007 The 21/2.8ASPH was the first lens I put on my new M8, and I was absolutely stunned by the result. It really shines on this body. As for the 16-18-21, I'm curious about it as well if someone cares to elaborate on the plus/minus. I think the 21 on the M8 with its f/2.8 is a great walkaround lens when you want something wider than 28.
