disconnekt Posted January 2, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted January 2, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just got an L1 for Xmas and am therefore going to sell my beloved D2 and all accessories. Where would be the best place to do this? eBay? Or is there a Leica-specific classifieds forum? Thanks in advance for your advice. -alison

arminw Posted January 2, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted January 2, 2007 I think your best bet to sell your D2 would be ebay.

johnwolf Posted January 3, 2007 Share #4 Â Posted January 3, 2007 Alison, Â You might try Amazon. I sell a lot of used stuff there. If Amazon has ever sold the product new, you can list yours as used. They take a bigger cut than Ebay, but you don't need to supply photos, descriptions, or deal with auctioning. Just display the product listing and click the Sell Yours Here button. It's very simple. Maybe list it there first for a while, and if you don't get your price, then try Ebay. abrewer Posted January 3, 2007 Share #5  Posted January 3, 2007 Unfortunately we have no place on the LUF to buy/sell per request of Leica.  The best places I can direct you are:  Rangefinderforum.com  FredMiranda.com  Photo.net  Photogon.com  All of these sites can accomodate classifieds and you are fairly sure to get knowledgable bidders.  Thanks.  Allan

disconnekt Posted January 3, 2007 Author Share #7 Â Posted January 3, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks for the ideas! Amazon sounds interesting and certainly easier than eBay, but I'm located in France so I need to target European customers. I will check out the forums above, since I prefer to sell to a Leica enthusiast who frequents forums and knows what he/she is looking for, rather than an eBayer who may be completely clueless about the D2. johnwolf Posted January 3, 2007 Share #8 Â Posted January 3, 2007 ...have you ever sold anything there yourself john? Â Yes, I've sold many items on Amazon. I just replaced two Tamron zooms with Canon L zooms for my 5D system. One Tamron sold within hours and the other within a few days, and both at good prices. In fact, one sold for $80.00 more than you can buy it new at B&H. I've sold PDAs, video cameras, many books, videos, and other items. Â I suspect some buyers don't like the auction process and will pay a little more for the convenience and reliability of Amazon. I'm one of them. I buy (or try to buy) a lot on Ebay, but it's frustrating to almost always be outbid in the last few seconds. Â If I were to sell my D2, I'd first see what they are selling for on Ebay, then list it on Amazon at a higher price. You can always lower the price or cancel the listing at any time.
