D Lux 4 and viewfinder

Well, the camera has a zoom lens, so you have to decide what viewfinder you take: 24 or 50 mm or both. There are excellent used (Leica-)viewfinders for 50 mm in the market. Made for the pre M-Leica, so before 1950.

I suggest to take a look at the hoodman lens too. It is a pity, that Leica did not make a provision for it.

I use a Hoodman 1X LCD-viewing loupe in bright sun conditions. If I'm going to be taking a series of shots in bright sun, I use a couple of rubber bands to affix the loupe to the camera It's like having a real viewfinder (although it looks a little strange).

I have the viewfinder and Hoodman. The viewfinder is better than nothin, but I agree, I like using the Hoodman better. I actually don't even bother attaching them. I wear the Hoodman around my neck, and don't have much trouble holding it against the camera just when I need to.

The viewfinder for my DL4 is left on the camera and used when needed. I don't use the zoom when using the viewfinder, in fact, I rarely ever use the zoom. I have the Panasonic version and love it.
