elansprint72 Posted January 2, 2007 Share #1 Posted January 2, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Has anyone found a case suitable for storing the Elpro-D E69 (Digilux 2) in a camera bag? I don't want to keep it in its silver cardboard box. Just bagged this lens on e-Bay UK for 90GBP, saw one go a couple of weeks ago for 185GBP :D Cheers, Pete. crm.ecosse Posted January 2, 2007 Share #2 Posted January 2, 2007 See - http://www.leicatime.com/ - for case made to suit Elpro-D E69. Look under sub-section: '-Neck Straps, Wrist straps and other useful accessories !' Best regards, Colin Martin.
elansprint72 Posted January 2, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted January 2, 2007 Thanks for that lead Colin, but 40 Euros for a case which is not dustproof? Whilst the leather goods on that site are all very nice, top quality fashion accessories, they are not really intended for a real-life working snapper who has to go into some inhospitable areas. The sort of thing I'm after is more likely to be made by someone like Tupperware. Thanks, Pete.

I use a hard plastic storage container which was designed to hold half a dozen 3.5" computer disks - as you can see from the photo, it is the type that has a hinged side which clips into place. It holds the Elpro nicely in its foam surround from the cardboard box with only a slight amount of additional packing. Welcome, dear visitor! stuny Posted January 2, 2007 Share #5 Posted January 2, 2007 Pete - John's solution is better than mine. Mine cost the equivalent of about GPS1. It's a two picce clear plastic hockey puck display case. The one thing I had to do was to use nail polish to mark where it opens.

Pete, I started a thread on this subject about a year ago in the old forum. I recall that nothing really came out of it. However, John's solution sounds interesting. dl2flori Posted January 3, 2007 Share #9 Posted January 3, 2007 Hi everyone! Maybe I'm too late, I occasionally found my personal solution which I like quite a lot. There are some quite small Samsonite bags - actually made for kids - that are capable of carrying the Elpro-D in its plastic bag (and not much more). The best thing about this bag is its attached strap, using it I can wear this thing just like a second belt and have it with me all the time. And around $15 (paid 13 € for mine) should be a really good deal. Here's a picture of my one: Welcome, dear visitor! imported_peter_m Posted January 3, 2007 Share #10 Posted January 3, 2007 Wonder if one of those metal shoe polish or saddle soap tins would work......... You also might be able to get a zippered leather pouch.... Peter
mark_a_h Posted May 18, 2008 Share #11 Posted May 18, 2008 Resurrecting this old thread... and making it my mission today to scour the dollar stores and kitchenware stores for the smallest tupperware/rubbermaid watertight food container that fits this lens. Just another crazy episode in living with Leica.

elansprint72 Posted May 19, 2008 Author Share #14 Posted May 19, 2008 Hey, what goes around....... I went down the Tupperware route, liberating our smallest box from the freezer and cuttting the Elpro foam packaging to suit. I reacll a small domestic incident relating to the former contents of this box but the fuss died down quickly. They are indeed getting expensive, anyone who has one will probably keep it until their D2 keels over interminably.
mark_a_h Posted May 21, 2008 Share #15 Posted May 21, 2008 Success! I found tiny tupperware containers (4 for $1). I took the foam from the packaging and shaped it to fit the container – I even beveled the sides and sanded it smooth. That fit in snugly. Then I cut the thin piece of foam to size and glued it to the container top. Nice that this is somewhat waterproof as I do take it canoeing. Much easier to get at now too. Welcome, dear visitor! mark_a_h Posted May 22, 2008 Share #17 Posted May 22, 2008 Sorry for the confusion, I usually call any food container tupperware. These are actually generic brand containers.
