chris_tribble Posted January 2, 2007 Share #1 Posted January 2, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) The M8s seem to be arriving with the New Year - my dealer in London (Classic Camera) advises me that my black M8's there. I have to wait to Monday to collect as I'm away from base, but at least I know it's waiting for me. They've not got any IR cut filters in stock and are waiting for firm information from Leica on how and when the Leica branded ones will come through. Happy New year to one and all. Eoin Posted January 2, 2007 Share #4 Posted January 2, 2007 Ok here is an offer for anyone who want's a silver M8. I have just received an email from my London based dealer to say that my pre orderd silver M8 has arrived today 2nd January. Some of you may recall I managed to get a silver one in schipol airport on my way out to Thailand on the 17th of Nov last. I never cancled my order figuring someone further down a list may wish to avail of this when it became available. Should you wish to jump the line please email me eoin(at)iol(dot)ie anyone who wishes to check my intregity and is a member on FM knows what to do and where to look, I have the same username. I'll have to email my dealer to either accept or decline the M8 so if your serious and want a silver 1.0.9 version let me know sooner rather than later. Happy new year. matt736 Posted January 2, 2007 Share #5 Posted January 2, 2007 My dealer rang me this to say that he had just had a silver M8 arrive, I declined it as I am waiting for a black M8.It was only a single camera delivered.I do hope Leica can get the production and shipping to the UK up a gear because those dates of March/April are going to be for people who are only 4th on a Premier Dealers list, like I am. If Leica decides to read this message 'WHERE ARE ALL THE BLACK M8's GOING!!',because we would dearly like to see some heading towards the UK, Cheers Matthew. Try to get a black one myself, the silver version seems to be available at some dealers here in the US. Which leaves me with the same question, where are all the black M8 going to? arminw Posted January 2, 2007 Share #7 Posted January 2, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have one on order as well and went to the Classic Camera shop today. Unfortunately, the lot of M8's they have just gotten in is already bespoken and I have to wait for the other lot early next Month. Having shot with it and played around at several Leica academy workshops, it feels like having a wonderful perfect foreplay and then lovely Leica says no sorry you have to wait I m not ready yet. marknorton Posted January 2, 2007 Share #8 Posted January 2, 2007 I assume someone at Leica has predicted the split of black/chrome which has determined what parts get delivered to them, hopefully they will shift production towards black to meet demand. I'm waiting for a black one as well.

I'm waiting for a black one as well. Here's a US data point. Popflash has gotten at least 30 units so far (don't know how they do it), and 16 of those have been silver. When I claimed my silver there were at least a dozen people in the queue ahead of me that were waiting for black. scott
matt736 Posted January 2, 2007 Share #10 Posted January 2, 2007 Scott, Thanks for the info on Popflash,it means that one dealer based in the US has had 10 times more supplied to him than any of our UK Premier Dealers,at that rate maybe I should place an order with him. Speaking to a couple of Premier Dealers today, they have been asking Leica UK why we are being so poorly supplied with M8s black and silver and the answer they get back is, when a shipment comes in it is sent to the shops, and thats it. I also asked about the IR Filters and was told that neither of the shops have had any in yet,its a good job we don't have alot of cameras as we would have no filters for our lenses either. I must admit I am questioning why I am buying a camera that produces blacks as magenta ,and the shops i have spoken to don't deny that either.Maybe I should keep the deposit in place for the M9, Cheers Matthew. ho_co Posted January 2, 2007 Share #11 Posted January 2, 2007 Remember, no US dealer feels he's getting enough cameras, either. Leica is probably sending cameras to various distribution chains according to the size of that particular market. Perhaps it isn't that the UK is being treated unfairly, but rather that everyone is being treated fairly with a smaller number of cameras than we would like.
