Advertisement Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 Hi khun_k, Take a look here M8 with Elmarit-M 24/2.8 asph and Tri-Elmar 35-50-28. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
fnuernberger Posted January 1, 2007 Share #2 Posted January 1, 2007 Excellent photographs - which have a tendency to depict very expensive toys ;-) I've been looking at that panorama for quite a while but couldn't detect any Hasselblad H2 between the flowers... Something wrong with the M8 sensor?
tjv Posted January 1, 2007 Share #3 Posted January 1, 2007 The photo's I've seen of yours seem to look quite a lot more "film like" than others I've seen on this forum. I'm refering in particular to the blue tones, I think. Yours seem show a lot deeper colours, like I'd expect to see on a good slide film like Astia. I read somewhere else that you're using standard profiles in C1 PRO. Are you doing anything else special? Also, a few people have mentioned that they think the M8 exp meter is off by a third of a stop. Are you dialing in any exp compensation? Cheers, Tim

Cheers, Tim Since I was still traveling for vocation, and shooting P45 and M8 at the same time, with limited power of the laptop computer, I was in fact leaving the raw filed took by P45 on either my Contax 645 or Alpa SWA12 procesed by C1Pro and just use the CS2 to process the DNG from M8. Most of the M8 shot were developed with little adjustment from CS2 and almost exclusively I use my experiecen in meter, adjust between f stops and speed dial and ISO setting (which is either 1 or 1/2 stops), rahter than 1/3 stop from the EV conpensation. I still trust the my eye more than what meter told me. Thank you for your comments.
tjv Posted January 2, 2007 Share #5 Posted January 2, 2007 Thanks for replying. Another question, seeing as I'm relatively new to digital capture and used to working with slide: I've been trying to eliminate all confusing things to do with digital, especially ones that were never really needed for me during my film days. This includes leaving the M8 set on Daylight white ballance and basically following the old rules of exposure to make the most of the ambient lights colour. So far I haven't been too sucessful in replicating the quality of my film output. I'm thinking (I can't test this as my camera is back in the motherland,) this has something to do with the way I'm exposing each image. From what I've read digital capture is a bit backwards in that all or most of the info is in the highlights. This would suggest that I should expose for a middle tone, such as skin or even on the side of overexposure so that I can hold detail in the shadow areas, then pull it backwards during RAW conversion. How do you work in this regard? I know this is quite a personal preferece kind of question, I'm just interested in how you see each exposure through. Thanks mate, Tim
arthury Posted January 2, 2007 Share #6 Posted January 2, 2007 Very entertaining images. Would love to see more images where the lenses are opened wide. Most, if not all, of the images are shot at f8-f11. Why are all of the EXIF data not showing the focal length of the shots? Lenses are not coded? Looking forward to more images from your experiences .... Thanks!

Looking forward to more images from your experiences .... Thanks! I have many M lenses, none of them coded. I was waiting if Leica will intorduce a menu table so the coding is not necessary. I have put the focal length and aperture infomration on the EXIF data since M8 won't read them. I did have other shots made with wide open which you may find them useful here, all the images were made with M8 with varies of lenses: Happy New Year! jobe Posted January 2, 2007 Share #8 Posted January 2, 2007 Thank you for the images. These are two lenses I'm interested in. I have a couple questions if I may. How accurate is the finder with the 24mm lens? Does the Tri Elmar intrude much in the finder frame at the 35 or 28 setting? It is impossible to get your hands on these lenses to mount on a camera and see for yourself and as new owner of the M8, I'm still adjusting to the framing of the camera vs my D2X. Thanks.
