primetime1001 Posted January 1, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted January 1, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I was so happy with the M8, shooting all sorts of stuff, carrying it everywhere ...... just about to take a really neat picture of my dog, switched on, set ISO, saw a brief red flash from the indicator light, focused on the dog's nose, pushed the shutter button gently ....... and ...... it would not fire. Couldn't have turned it on ....... no, it was turned on ..... couldn't believe it! Â Now, when I come to take the bottom plate off, and the camera is switched off, a warning comes on ..... but it is switched off ......... ? Â Took out the battery to reset it, and am recharging it as I write, but I think there is a short in the camera. Â Have emailed the dealer to see what I should do, but am afraid I am in the doldrums for a few weeks as it likely has to go back to Solms ....... such a shame, as I am loving the camera, the handling, the ergonomics and, of course, the photos ...... sigh! Advertisement Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 Hi primetime1001, Take a look here M8 woes. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
khanosu Posted January 1, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted January 1, 2007 Did the camera behave properly after you re-inserted the batteries? If it did then I would not worry about it. Once the camera hangs the on/off button is rendered ineffective so when you open the bottom plate it does not know the camera has been switched off. It happens once in a while; others have reported it. It happened only once to me. Â Good Luck! Â Furrukh
canlogic Posted January 1, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted January 1, 2007 Had the same thing happen to me the other day when I was out shooting in the cold. The battery died. When I put in a fresh one everything was ok.

chrism Posted January 1, 2007 Share #6 Â Posted January 1, 2007 That really is a bummer. Such a long wait and then a faulty camera. Â Chris
