iPhones are sold with a service year contract that ends up costing quite a lot, so they are not cheap when you figure in the whole cost of ownership and usage.

Speaking of cost, if you were to amortize the cost of a Leica camera or lens and an iPhone over a its entire useful life, the total cost of ownership for the iPhone would actually be much more expensive than the Leica.

I can picture still using my iphone 4 in 40 years' time looking up a compiled list of serial numbers:

"...and my iphone left the Foxconn factory on September 9, 2010 in a batch of 200,000...", just like with my M4. Yep, Steve. Just like-a Leica.

Wow ! Thanks for the Link... as a no-Apple user, I'm always out of those big events... (didn't even know that a new Iphone was annonced :o)... it's anyway funny to hear an allusion to Leica from the mouth of Jobs... did it ever quote other brands still alive ? I ask this because, having him the deserved fame of smart marketer, and surely well conscious of his personal awareness, I wonder vaguely if there is $OMETHING behind this loudspoken allusion to a brand.... generally speaking, I think that people at Leica can only be happy of this quotation in an event probably followed by thousands of people worldwide...
