They just took my order with a FedEx Priority delivery for tomorrow. They charged my credit card and I assume this does mean they are in stock. I'll report back here when they send me a tracking number for delivery.

Keeping my fingers crossed...

If you want to support the forum please use the B+H banners to go to the storen and buy there.

That gives the forum a small share and helps to run the forum!

Thanks

Andreas

I apologize for not thinking about that in my earlier post.

In the future, I will link through this site for my B&H purchases.

Don't they have telephones in the US? Wouldn't giving them a call be the best way to see if they really have them in stock? ;-)

Steve,

You should also remember that we don't really speak English here. ;-)

My experience with B&H is if the website says it is in stock, it is. Once it is gone, it is reflected as so on the web. Not true of others, but seems to work with B&H. I got my M8 in early November after seeing a similar notice on this forum. After I ordered, it immediately showed out of stock, so I called to confirm I was really getting one. I was, and it showed up two days later.

I have also been on a wait list with the largest Chicago dealer since October. Never heard a word from them. I suggest those who really want an M8 to keep checking the reliable dealers on a daily or more frequent basis and jump on it when you see one.

So my dealer called me yesterday to tell me the he totally unexpectedly got a black M8. I could hardly believe it, so i went to the bank, then drove 45 minutes to get the camera. Just to make sure it wasn't one of the 'old ones' I checked the firmware version, because I knew he used to have one in stock from the 1.06 series. But all seemed fine...until I switched off the camera. The lcd had some strange horizontal black lines. After switching it back on and doing something with the screen it kept a patern of lines after switching it off. The pattern was different every time and only appeared after switching the camera off completely. The lcd seemed fine when you just switched off the lcd.

So, no M8 after all...I knew it was too good to be true... :(

Hi Hans,

Sorry to hear your story. Firmware 1.09 is available for public download so a better way to see if you really got a newer version is to look for a pamphlet. There should be a pamphlet in the box inviting you to register for two free IR cut filters. If this was not there then it probably was an older model with the new firmware installed later.

Just got mine from the FedEx man. It must be the new version as it has the pamplet explaining the free filters and how to register.

The packaging is SUPERB and is a delight to unpack.

Now can't wait for the battery to charge.

Thanks all for the information on this forum for me to make an informed decision about purchasing the M8 now.
