trs Posted December 27, 2006 Share #1 Posted December 27, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Did not see any body mention it here. I ran into two issues since I upgraded to 1.09 in addition to other issues already mentioned here. 1) Boot time is slower than 1.06 (both from sleep and power on). It really takes lot longer to show exposure count and battery status on top left LCD. 2) When I switch from one user profice to another (say from 1 to 3), information in neither LCDs change either until afer I take shot or turn the camera off and back on again. One more problem from original firmaware still exists. I don't know yet what is the repro steps, but after taking a shot, LCD light stays on after review image is gone (mine set to display 3 secs). It won't go away until I press the shutter button, but it does not happen all the time, happens ony about 50% or less I think. I wonder if any body noticed any of above symtoms. Just wondering. thanks. -tanka
Advertisement Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 Hi trs, Take a look here Bug in 1.09?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
j. borger Posted December 27, 2006 Share #2 Posted December 27, 2006 What you mention might not be bugs. You have to set the autopower-off to 2 minutes in the menu .... so the LCD always shuts down after 2 minutes .... that's the only way the image will automaticaly go awy from the LCD (afer 2 minutes) ... all other options keep it longer in sight! marknorton Posted December 27, 2006 Share #3 Posted December 27, 2006 My LCD backlight goes off maybe half a second after the image clears. I think it would appear cleaner if they switched off the backlight first and then cleared the image. There would be less visual activity. Haven't noticed a change in boot time. If I set UP1 to be JPEG only and UP3 to be DNG only, opening the profile correctly changes the information on the set menu.

I probably misunderstood .... .. my statement is true only for review-mode= from the moment you touch the play button. After simply taking pictures, without using or touching the play button, the LCD has to go off automaticaly as Mark described after showing it for the 3 seconds. trs Posted December 27, 2006 Author Share #5 Posted December 27, 2006 Mark, mine definitely stays longer than half a second. I notice blank bright LCD screen after image has gone away. Maybe it does go away later, but it stays long enough, I end up pressing shutter button to make it go away. Problem is it is not consistent. Only happens about half the time as I said above. Zitat, yes you are right, I meant you said in your second post. How about user profile switch? Have anybody noticed? For example, I have profile 1 set to DNG with 160 ISO. Profile 2 setup with ISO 640 and WB set to tungston, and 3 set to JPG and set to black and white. I noticed the issue when I switched from 3 to either 1 or 2 or other ways around because remaining exposure count does not change where it should. It only changes only after I take a shot or turn off and back on. This definitely did not happen with 1.06. None of the issues are show stoppers, but sure are annoying. thanks. Tanka I've observed this one on my unfixed M8 with v1.09 (it had the same issue with 1.06): after autoreviewing the backlighting seems to stay on for a while (I haven't measured it) after the screen goes dark. jflachmann Posted December 27, 2006 Share #7 Posted December 27, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hm, I have noticed another interesting thing with my M8 (banding fixed by Leica, upgraded to 1.09). When I switch on the camera and start the menu, from time to time the whole display starts to flash (getting lighter and darker and so on). It is not very strong and after a while - sometimes after a few seconds, some times after a few minutes - it stops and everything looks normal again. It also stops (mostly) when I start shooting and call up the menu again after. I can't really believe, that this is caused by the new firmware. To me it looks more like a problem with LCD backlight. However, this did not happen before the the camera went back to Leica three weeks ago.
