Roberto- Promising. Could you perhaps post a cropped area of 100% resolution to really evaluate the noise? Some cameras can really tolerate underexposure of high Iso, most can't at all. In my experience the Fuji S3 handles this very well, I often use -2EV when needed at 1600 iso. My M8 is in Solms so I can't test it myself right now! Thanks....Peter

considering the equivalent iso, shooting ilford 3200 at 10,000 certainly produces grain like this, maybe even more. the difference for digital is how the grain is contained mostly in the shadow regions, and less so in the midtones and highlights. film is grainy throughout. To my eye, I would almost like to add grain to the highlights to make it more consistent, and less like sensor noise. Perhaps in a print it would render differently. Certainly useable considering what the equivalent film result looks like.

Robert, nice post, thanks.

It would be nice to see this shot with noise removal applied. Can you do that.

tnx,

I'll give it a shot. Neat Image is my favorite. This is a fairly complex noise reduction and sharpening.
