Any conclusive analysis about the coffee-ring problem?

I just noticed my M8 developed this problem a couple of days ago, whilst reviewing images on the screen. More obvious on bright scenes. The camera's been used sparingly over the last 2 months or so and have been in a camera bag most of the time, in cool conditions. Yesterday, I sent it back to my Leica dealer and the immediately took it in to be sent back to Leica UK.

I guess this is due to poor supplier of the glass or installation and is a known fault? Have never come across this problem having owned so many digital cameras over the years.

I don't see an image of the problem posted?? But why don't I make a wild guess anyway - could it possibly be Newton's rings? What lens, filter and lighting conditions are involved? If that is what they are, there may be an alignment problem with a lens element(s).

The OP is referring to a failure of the LCD cover whereby the seal is broken and humidity and particles dust enter between the cover and LCD and accumulates in a ring formation...

Curious has anyone experienced this with the Sapphire cover?... I had karmatic lucky that when I did the shutter/frameline upgrade they also upgraded my cover to Sapphire for free!!!... I assumed that was because they checked and noticed that there was an issue with the plastic cover in place?...

My M8.2 has the affliction. I haven't decided when to send it in. My warranty is expiring in January...

I think you should, if you can miss it for a while.

Try to get a fast turn-around.

My 75 Summi backfocusses, on the M9. It did not on the M8.

I plan to wring two weeks out of them (in Solms) :-)
