wda Posted December 24, 2006 Share #1 Â Posted December 24, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) The claims for Alien Skin 'Blow-up' seem to set the software apart from other similar plug-ins. Has anyone used it? If so I would welcome a user report and comment on value-for-money. Â For my relatively limited needs $200 does seem pretty expensive. Advertisement Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 Hi wda, Take a look here Alien Skin 'Blow-up' plug-in; any users?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Guest stnami Posted December 24, 2006 Share #2 Â Posted December 24, 2006 I use it quite a lot especially with small sensor camera images, as I had Alien Skin's Exposure it cost $100 so the combination cost $300. Is it worth the cost, for most probably not, I could live without it though it would mean producing a heap pf actions. My main activity is gallery work in the fine arts field so I don't have to work with photography in a coventional manner so it suits me. In short probably a waste of money stand alone for most, though some printers find it a very usefull tool
edlaurpic Posted December 24, 2006 Share #3 Â Posted December 24, 2006 I use it and I love it. I already had purchased "exposure" from alien skin, so Blow up was only about $100 for me. Â In an earlier posting a couple weeks ago, I showed a shot of fallen leaves taken witthe the M8 and a Noctilux that I blew up and printed 24 X 36. It is incredible. Check it out by looking among my prior posts if you know how to do that (I haven't done that before, but most forums allow you to look at other postings by members). Â It's really easy to use, also. ChrisC Posted December 24, 2006 Share #5  Posted December 24, 2006 Down load it for free and try it for 30 days , I bought it after  David - David Adamson [davidadada] is being extremely reserved with his reply. I think that the answer to your question will be answered if you are prepared to follow davidadada's thread:  http://www.leica-camera-user.com/digital-forum/9022-30-x-40-inch-m8-prints.html  It's a long read because it caught the imagination of the forum, but is worth it if your question is serious. David Adamson is a serious guy, it was this thread above any other that convinced me to pay in advance for an M8 despite a shed load of reservations I have, it also convinced me that Alien Skin is a 'must-have' software.  Do a search engine enquiry on David Adamson, and trust his expertise. I hope this helps and Happy Christmas to you.  ..............................Chris

I did look at the referenced thread and was somewhat shocked by the vitriolic contributions to what was clearly a very professional and well-meant posting. Fortunately good sense shone through and I am prepared to believe David's claims. I had no idea I was touching on such a controversial subject.  I await further experience reports from other forum members.  David
