The bonnet shut line and scuttle shape suggest a 16/80 (2 litre) Lagonda but the rounded corner windscreen would be very unusual, given that they normally had a square cut framed screen to meet the hood.

You continue to amaze me with your near-encyclopedic knowledge of small, automotive details.  It is indeed a 3 1/2 liter Bentley Derby, of mid'30s vintage (I had no opportunity to question the owner).  It's a pleasure to see these old beauties used rather than just being polished and shown.  Your turn.

Hi Stuart,

Many thanks for the compliment.  It helps to have worked on the cars and could only afford to have many cars in the past by doing my own work.  My greatest pleasure was rebuilding Alfa Romeo 105 engines.

A bit of more detailed digging in the entry list of Shamrock Vintage Rally 2022 shows it is a 1936 Derby 4 1/4 litre. Driven by Stuart and Emily A.

Hmm, curious.

Going by registration records it was first registered for the road in the UK in March 1937 🤔

I suppose it could have been constructed in (maybe late) 1936 and not registered till the following year. Factory orders/build sheets would show - but maybe we should just appreciate it’s getting properly used!
